How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Procure To Pay
Emphasize your systems proficiency
Hiring managers in P2P prioritize candidates who can operate procurement platforms from day one. Listing specific ERP modules you've worked with, such as SAP MM or Oracle Procurement Cloud, signals immediate value and reduces onboarding risk for sponsorship-minded employers.
Understand your OPT timeline before applying
Standard OPT gives you 12 months. STEM OPT extension adds 24 more if your degree qualifies. Knowing your exact authorization window lets you frame conversations with recruiters accurately and target roles that align with H-1B cap filing deadlines in April.
Apply to Fortune 500 procurement teams
Large manufacturers, retailers, and healthcare systems run dedicated P2P departments and sponsor visa holders routinely. Mid-size companies may offer the role but lack the legal team to navigate sponsorship, making enterprise employers a strategically safer target for OPT students.
Frame your degree match clearly
P2P roles require specialty occupation status for H-1B, meaning your degree field must relate directly to the job. Business, supply chain management, finance, or accounting degrees align cleanly. Make that connection explicit in your resume and cover letter for every application.
Ask about sponsorship early but diplomatically
Raise visa sponsorship before the offer stage, ideally after initial recruiter screening. Asking late wastes both sides' time. A direct question like asking whether the company has sponsored H-1B before is professional and filters out employers who won't support your long-term status.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do procure to pay jobs qualify for STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not the job title itself. If your degree is in supply chain management, information systems, or a qualifying STEM field listed on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List, you can apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. A general business or accounting degree typically does not qualify, so confirm your CIP code with your DSO before counting on the extension.
Can I work in a procure to pay role while on OPT?
Yes, as long as the role is directly related to your degree field. USCIS requires that OPT employment be in a position that applies knowledge from your major. A supply chain, finance, or business degree maps cleanly to P2P analyst and specialist roles. Your DSO can confirm the connection is defensible if you want a second opinion before accepting an offer.
Where can I find procure to pay jobs that sponsor OPT students?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT students and filters jobs by sponsorship willingness, which saves significant time compared to applying broadly. P2P roles from employers with H-1B sponsorship history surface regularly on the platform, so you can focus applications on companies already familiar with the OPT-to-H-1B pipeline rather than guessing.
Will employers sponsor H-1B for procure to pay roles?
Many do, particularly at large enterprises where P2P functions are tied to complex ERP environments requiring specialized expertise. Roles like procurement analyst, accounts payable specialist, and P2P systems analyst have strong H-1B approval histories because they meet the specialty occupation requirement. Smaller employers may hesitate due to legal costs, so prioritizing larger organizations improves your odds considerably.
What documents do I need to work in a procure to pay job on OPT?
You need your Employment Authorization Document, your current Form I-20 with OPT authorization noted, and your visa stamp if you plan to travel internationally. Your employer's HR team will complete Form I-9 using these documents. If you're on STEM OPT extension, you'll also need a signed Form I-983 training plan between you and your employer, updated if your role or compensation changes.
