About The Team
DoorDash Drive is our white label fulfillment platform powering e-commerce for merchants on and off the DoorDash platform. The Drive New Verticals team partners with merchants across Grocery, Convenience, Retail, and Pharma to strategically and operationally address their e-commerce and logistics needs through our three-sided marketplace.
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our New Verticals Drive Strategy & Operations team passionate about scaling high growth products. This team focuses on owning the merchant strategy for our Drive partners that operate on our Dasher Shop & Deliver platform. In this role, you will unlock accessibility to local businesses on their own terms by launching new products and services to expand both DoorDash’s and the Merchant’s total addressable market. You will work on growth, profitability and merchant strategy initiatives to grow our Grocery merchants. You will partner cross-functionally to drive operational excellence, contribute to the ideation and execution of new services and features, and support profitability efforts through data-driven recommendations, merchant negotiations, and account optimization initiatives. Reporting to the Manager of Drive Strategy and Operations, you will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, operations, business development, and other teams to make your vision a reality. We operate in a hybrid model so we spend a few days a quarter in person together, but all our offices are open should you choose to go in more regularly!
You’re Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will…
- Strategize: You will develop the strategy to best serve our customers, thinking at a deeply strategic level about the success now and 3+ years out.
- Operate: You want to get to the lowest level of detail, and scale. You will work directly with internal and external partners to execute on your short & long-term plans; you are a cross functional success enabler and an excellent operator.
- Analyze: You will analyze data to root cause problems, build solutions and ideate net new initiatives.
- Build: You will develop and lead 0 to 1 opportunities, creating the roadmap for future growth vectors and determine how to invest our resources to achieve desired outcomes. You’ll do whatever it takes to launch, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high-level strategy to nitty-gritty operational details.
- Collaborate: You value partnerships, and will excel at working across Operations, Product, Sales, Engineering, and more to bring new products and services to merchants.
We’re Excited About You Because…
- You have an extreme sense of ownership. You display extreme ownership for the products and business lines that you are responsible for. You never shy away from raising your hand to solve ambiguous problems and are able to motivate and empower your teammates to go above and beyond.
- You solve problems from first principles. You’re excited to solve problems in innovative ways, and you resist “this is how it’s always been done” thinking.
- You’re an analytical powerhouse. You let data win arguments, and you’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL and modeling in Excel. You’ve adapted to AI tooling and are comfortable using these to improve and enhance your work.
- You’re relentless. You do what it takes to win, no matter what.
- You’re a team player. You’re able to work cross-functionally across internal & external stakeholders, ranging from technical & non-technical teams. You meet people on their level.
- You act with urgency. Speed excites you. You prefer an accomplishment today to an accomplishment tomorrow.
- You’re a builder. You enjoy building from the ground up and excel in creating structure and process.
- You have 2-4 years of experience ideally in logistics, tech, consulting, food & beverage, startups, AI or other related fields.

Which e-commerce companies in Illinois sponsor H-1B1 visas?
Chicago-based e-commerce and digital marketplace companies with a history of H-1B1 and related specialty occupation sponsorship include Groupon, Raise, Avant, and Sprout Social. Larger national retailers with Illinois headquarters or significant tech hubs, such as Walgreens and United Airlines' digital commerce divisions, also sponsor international workers in qualifying specialty roles. Sponsorship patterns vary by team, role, and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Illinois have the most e-commerce H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of e-commerce H-1B1 sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. The River North, West Loop, and Fulton Market neighborhoods are home to many digital commerce startups and mid-sized technology companies. Suburbs including Schaumburg and Downers Grove also host logistics and retail technology operations, though at significantly lower volume than the city itself.
What types of e-commerce roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship in Illinois?
Roles that consistently qualify as specialty occupations in the e-commerce sector include software engineers, data scientists, product managers, UX researchers, and digital marketing analysts, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Generalist roles or positions where any degree field is acceptable typically do not meet the H-1B1 specialty occupation standard, so the job description and employer documentation are critical.
How do I find e-commerce H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers on work visas, including the H-1B1, and lets you filter by visa type, industry, and state. Searching for e-commerce roles in Illinois on Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified sponsorship activity, saving significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings. Combining that with direct outreach to Illinois-based digital commerce companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications is the most targeted approach.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in e-commerce?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal H-1B1 rules, but Chicago's competitive technology hiring market means employers often move quickly during recruiting cycles. Illinois employers must comply with the Illinois Equal Pay Act, which affects how prevailing wage determinations interact with internal pay structures. E-commerce companies in Illinois that rely on seasonal traffic spikes may also structure roles differently, which can affect the specialty occupation determination.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 e-commerce jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
