Position Overview
This role provides Operational IT support for the Des Moines Works factory in Ankeny, including support for:
- Two off-site warehouses
- Test lab in Ames, IA
- John Deere facility in Paton, IA
The position involves a mix of break/fix support and project-based IT work, supporting end-user devices and infrastructure across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, and maintain:
- Computers, printers, and scan guns
- Network-connected devices
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues using ServiceNow ticketing queues
- Perform routine support tasks:
- Replace printer toner
- Dispose of outdated IT assets
- Maintain accurate records:
- Asset management
- Service documentation
- Communicate effectively via email and internal systems
- Identify process or operational issues and:
- Resolve using standard procedures OR
- Escalate when necessary
- Support continuous improvement of IT processes and operations
Work Environment & Requirements
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor work
- Use of Deere Gator vehicle within facility (as needed)
- PPE Requirement: Metatarsal safety footwear required from Day 1
- Dress Code: Business casual
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Travel required:
- Support nearby sites (Paton, Ames, Clarion)
- Travel up to ~1 hour (frequency: up to monthly)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of:
- Computing systems and networking fundamentals
- IT hardware (PCs, printers, scanners)
- Familiarity with:
- Microsoft Office
- Internet/Intranet tools
- Understanding of:
- Computer security policies and general security concepts
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and on a team
Experience Requirements
- 1+ year of IT support experience preferred
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Education Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology or related field
- OR
- Equivalent work experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
