Job Description
The Maintenance Apprentice supports the maintenance team by learning and assisting with routine repair, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility systems and equipment. This role combines hands-on experience with structured training to develop technical skills in areas such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance. The apprentice works under close supervision while progressing toward independent maintenance proficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist maintenance technicians with daily repair and maintenance tasks
- Perform basic maintenance duties such as:
- Changing filters, belts, and light fixtures
- Painting, patching, and minor carpentry
- Basic plumbing repairs (leaks, clogs, fixture replacement)
- Learn to inspect buildings, equipment, and systems for proper operation
- Help with preventive maintenance programs and work orders
- Safely operate hand and power tools after training
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and storage rooms
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and company policies
- Accurately document work performed using maintenance logs or CMMS
- Participate in formal training, classes, or certification programs as required
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or currently enrolled)
- Strong interest in skilled trades or facilities maintenance
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or vocational training in maintenance, construction, or a related trade
- Previous experience in maintenance, construction, or mechanical work (entry-level acceptable)
- Familiarity with basic tools and equipment
- Valid driver’s license (if required for the role)
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
