Which fashion & apparel companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio is home to several major fashion and retail headquarters that have historically taken CPT students for internship and co-op programs. Abercrombie & Fitch and its brands, Victoria's Secret, and Abercrombie Kids all operate out of Columbus and have structured internship programs in design, merchandising, and product development. Smaller specialty retailers and apparel distributors in the Columbus metro also participate in CPT hiring, though program availability varies by semester and department.
Which cities in Ohio have the most fashion & apparel F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is by far the leading city for fashion and apparel CPT opportunities in Ohio, driven by the concentration of retail and apparel corporate headquarters there. Cleveland supports a smaller but active market through its retail operations, fashion buying offices, and textile distribution networks. Cincinnati rounds out the top three, with fashion-adjacent roles in consumer goods companies and regional retail chains that occasionally hire CPT students in marketing and operations capacities.
What types of fashion & apparel roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship must be directly tied to your degree program and approved by your DSO. In fashion and apparel, this commonly includes internships in fashion merchandising, product development, textile design, supply chain management, and retail buying. Roles in apparel marketing, e-commerce operations, and visual merchandising also qualify for students in business, design, or fashion-related degree programs, provided the work experience is integral to their coursework.
How do I find fashion & apparel F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international students and workers seeking visa-friendly employment in the U.S. You can filter directly by F-1 CPT authorization, the fashion and apparel industry, and Ohio to surface employers that have indicated willingness to work with CPT students. This saves significant time compared to manually screening general job postings for sponsorship eligibility, which is rarely stated upfront in fashion industry listings.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in fashion & apparel?
Ohio's fashion sector is heavily retail-corporate rather than production-focused, so most CPT roles will be office-based in Columbus rather than manufacturing or atelier settings. Because many Ohio fashion employers run structured co-op programs through partnerships with universities like Ohio State and Kent State, students enrolled at those institutions may have an advantage through existing employer relationships. F-1 students at other Ohio schools should confirm their DSO can authorize CPT with the specific employer before accepting any offer.
