Which fintech companies in Ohio sponsor H-1B1 visas?
Ohio fintech employers with a track record of sponsoring specialty occupation visas include JPMorgan Chase and KeyBank in Cleveland, Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, and a range of payments and financial technology firms headquartered in Columbus. Smaller fintech startups in the Columbus tech corridor also hire for H-1B1-eligible roles, particularly in software engineering and data analytics.
Which cities in Ohio have the most fintech H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for fintech hiring, driven by its concentration of bank technology operations, payments companies, and financial software firms. Cleveland follows with established financial institutions and growing fintech activity around its banking sector. Cincinnati adds meaningful volume through Fifth Third Bank's technology divisions and regional insurtech and payments employers. All three cities consistently post roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B1 criteria.
What types of fintech roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that commonly qualify as specialty occupations in Ohio fintech include software engineers building payments or banking platforms, data scientists working on risk modeling or fraud detection, quantitative analysts, cybersecurity engineers, and financial systems architects. The position must require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical or financial discipline. General business or sales roles rarely meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B1 approval.
How do I find fintech H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, including H-1B1, by industry, and by state to surface fintech roles in Ohio from employers who sponsor. This is more targeted than a general job search because the listings are screened for sponsorship eligibility. The H-1B1 is exclusive to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, so confirming employer familiarity with this specific visa category matters when evaluating opportunities.
Are there Ohio-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in fintech?
Ohio's fintech employers are often subsidiaries or technology divisions of large regulated financial institutions, which means they typically have established immigration compliance programs and legal counsel familiar with specialty occupation petitions. However, not every Ohio fintech employer has sponsored an H-1B1 specifically, since it is less common than the H-1B. Singaporean and Chilean nationals should confirm whether a prospective employer has experience with the H-1B1 category before progressing far in the interview process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 fintech jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
