Target Youth Villages locations in license-compact states
Youth Villages operates across multiple states, and some have faster behavioral health licensure reciprocity than others. Applying to positions in states where your existing license transfers quickly reduces gaps between offer and work authorization approval.
Ask HR directly about their I-129 filing timeline
Nonprofit and community health employers often file H-1B petitions on a different cycle than tech firms. Confirm whether Youth Villages uses premium processing through USCIS, since behavioral health roles sometimes require faster adjudication to align with caseload start dates.
Align your degree field to specialty occupation documentation
For H-1B eligibility, your degree must directly correspond to behavioral health practice. A social work, counseling psychology, or clinical psychology degree maps cleanly. If your degree title is non-standard, prepare a credentials evaluation from a NACES-approved service before the employer initiates your petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter active Behavioral Health Specialist openings at Youth Villages
Youth Villages posts across multiple channels, and not all listings are current. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles at Youth Villages that are actively open to sponsored candidates, saving you time screening positions that won't support your visa status.
Negotiate your offer letter before DOL wage determination
Once your employer submits the Labor Condition Application to the DOL, the prevailing wage level is locked in. Clarify your role title, responsibilities, and compensation before that filing stage, since changes afterward can require a new LCA and delay your start date.

Find Behavioral Health Specialist at Youth Villages JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Youth Villages sponsor H-1B visas for Behavioral Health Specialists?
Yes, Youth Villages has sponsored H-1B visas for Behavioral Health Specialist roles. As a healthcare and social services employer, they're familiar with the specialty occupation framework that applies to licensed clinical positions. You'll need an active state behavioral health license and a qualifying degree in social work, counseling, or a related clinical field to support the petition.
Which visa types are commonly used for Behavioral Health Specialist roles at Youth Villages?
H-1B is the most common pathway for full-time Behavioral Health Specialist positions at Youth Villages. F-1 OPT and CPT are options if you're completing a qualifying clinical program, though supervised hours for licensure often overlap with OPT eligibility windows. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with a qualifying degree and a qualifying job offer. J-1 is less common but possible for exchange visitors in clinical training programs.
How do I apply for Behavioral Health Specialist jobs at Youth Villages?
Browse open Behavioral Health Specialist positions at Youth Villages through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles open to sponsored candidates. When you apply, tailor your materials to reflect direct experience with youth and family intervention models, which align with Youth Villages' treatment approach. Be prepared to include your licensure status and work authorization needs early in the screening process.
What qualifications does Youth Villages expect for Behavioral Health Specialist roles?
Youth Villages generally requires a master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related clinical field, along with a state behavioral health license such as an LCSW, LPC, or equivalent. Direct experience working with at-risk youth, families in crisis, or within a community-based or residential treatment setting strengthens your candidacy. Familiarity with evidence-based models like Multisystemic Therapy is a practical advantage.
How do I manage timing between my visa status and a Behavioral Health Specialist start date at Youth Villages?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date against the H-1B cap-gap provision, which extends your work authorization if your petition is filed before your OPT expires and an October 1 start is needed. For H-1B transfers from another employer, you can begin working at Youth Villages once USCIS receives the petition. Build at least 60 to 90 days of lead time between your offer acceptance and your intended start date to accommodate LCA certification through the DOL and USCIS adjudication.
