INTRODUCTION
The Associate Director provides strategic vision and leadership for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the programming within the Community Programs Office (CPO). As a primary hub for campus support, the CPO oversees leadership development and essential service initiatives, including basic needs and student well-being resources, designed to ensure the success of the entire student body. This role requires a thorough understanding of the educational process and the institutional factors that impact student matriculation and persistence. The Associate Director is responsible for fostering supportive environments where all students can access critical resources and develop professional skills. Beyond program oversight, the position provides comprehensive leadership and mentorship to a multi-tiered staff of career, contract, limited, and student employees. Additionally, the Associate Director manages the departmental administrative response to matters affecting the campus environment and ensures compliance with Title IX, sexual harassment, and violence prevention protocols. Given the sensitive nature of these responsibilities, the assignment requires high-level professional diplomacy and demonstrated expertise in educational administration.
SALARY & COMPENSATION
- UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. QUALIFICATIONS
- Detailed knowledge of the educational and legal aspects of sexual harassment and violence policies and procedures. (Required)
- Detailed knowledge of University of California policies, procedures, and regulations relating to student conduct and discipline, student grievances, confidentiality of student records, and organizational discipline. (Preferred)
- Thorough knowledge of dispute resolution alternatives, including mediation between individuals. (Required)
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to students in higher education, including FERPA and DMCA. (Required)
- Advanced skill in interacting diplomatically with the public when faced with demands or requests for action that may violate federal or state law or University policy and procedure. (Required)
- Detailed knowledge of campus' time, place, and manner regulations for activities and use of property. (Required)
- Highly developed analytical skills to evaluate and integrate data from reports, operational practices, programs, and situational variables to define issues and construct appropriate methods of resolution. (Required)
- Advanced ability to maintain sensitivity and sound judgment when confronted with resistance, indifference, or hostility in complex interpersonal situations. (Required)
- Highly developed analytical skills to review and assess programs and procedures to support student proposal preparation, funding allocations, and funding evaluations. (Required)
- Thorough knowledge of student programs and activities within a large, complex university environment. (Required)
- Advanced ability to develop theoretical models for workshops to enhance the leadership capabilities of student population. (Required)
