INTRODUCTION
The Test Platform team at Apple is on a mission to provide innovative infrastructure and tools that execute billions of tests for internal engineering teams across Apple. We’re excited to expand the remit of our team and add new intelligent capabilities in the areas of dynamic test scheduling and orchestration.
We are looking for an exceptional software engineer to bring their knowledge and real-world experience in areas like intelligent systems, test execution optimization, resource scheduling, cloud services, and build/test/integration systems to build solutions that will directly improve the quality and velocity of developing software across Apple.
We believe that every engineer brings unique skills and perspective. Far more than any specific experience or skill, we are looking for engineers who want to build great reliable software and services, learn and develop their skills, and ultimately enable others to develop amazing applications. You would join a small, tight-knit group of engineers who build exciting new technology, and have fun while doing so.
DESCRIPTION
Our team owns critical tools and services used by the internal Apple Engineering community every day to execute tests at scale in the cloud, with a North Star of greatly improving engineering velocity and productivity. You'll find ways to combine our unique problem domain with established techniques related to large-scale test execution, applying intelligence to how testing resources are allocated and consumed at scale - from intelligent test selection, to optimizing device utilization across testing workloads. You'll work alongside our team to ensure Apple's engineering teams can get faster, more reliable feedback on their changes, enabling them to develop amazing applications and deliver the highest quality software.
You'll analyze requirements, constraints, and existing foundational elements to inform high-level architectural solutions that achieve high performance at scale, reliability, and long-term maintainability. You'll combine creative problem solving with data-driven approaches to continuously identify opportunities to make test execution smarter, more efficient, and improve overall testing throughput. Once solutions are identified, you will collaborate closely with the team to implement them while developing appropriate testing and operational mechanisms.
You will be most successful here as a flexible and proactive engineer who thrives in a supportive, respectful, and balanced work environment with interesting and challenging problems to tackle. You have excellent judgment and integrity with the ability to make timely and sound decisions. You know how to drive constructive discussion of design points, learn from your team, and use your experience to advocate and teach others.
In your role as an engineer on our team you will:
- Spend a majority of your time working to build tools and services that improve developer productivity and contributing to operational and engineering standards used across the organization.
- Apply intelligent and data-driven approaches, leveraging signals such as code coverage and semantic analysis of code changes, to drive smarter test selection and optimize how devices are leveraged for testing at scale.
- Collaborate with your teammates to help refine problem requirements and work with teams to implement long-lasting solutions.
- Engage with other teams to help identify issues and establish long term relationships that include knowledge sharing.
- Provide valuable feedback loops to engineering teams backed by application metrics and log data.
- Drive areas of service scalability (resiliency, redundancy, performance) by collaborating in planning meetings.
- Develop expertise and be given ownership over components critical to Apple's success.
- Contribute to engineering high-performance systems through algorithm design, optimization, and performance testing.
- Design new ways to scale Apple's distributed developer tools and services to ever-increasing problem sizes.
- Have access to the engineers who create Apple's full technology, tools, and operating systems stack.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Strong programming skills (preferably Swift or a similar language).
- Experience building, deploying, or maintaining developer tools, production web services, or CI/CD infrastructure.
- Experience with different testing types and approaches.
- Positive and respectful attitude in a diverse environment.
- Experience owning features from conception to release and troubleshooting production issues.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interest in tools and systems that support developing, building, testing, and releasing software.
- Experience applying data-driven or intelligent techniques to scheduling, resource management, or optimization problems.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and experience applying them to real-world engineering problems.

Which electronics companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in California?
California's electronics sector includes some of the most active H-1B1 sponsors in the country. Qualcomm in San Diego, Intel in Santa Clara, Applied Materials in Sunnyvale, and Apple in Cupertino have consistent histories of sponsoring specialty occupation roles. Smaller semiconductor and hardware firms in the Bay Area and San Diego also sponsor H-1B1 workers, though sponsorship availability varies by role, team, and hiring cycle.
Which cities in California have the most electronics H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
San Jose and the broader Silicon Valley corridor, including Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino, concentrate the highest volume of electronics H-1B1 roles in California. San Diego is a secondary hub, particularly for semiconductor and RF engineering positions centered around Qualcomm and its supplier ecosystem. Los Angeles has a smaller but growing hardware and consumer electronics presence, especially in areas like El Segundo and Irvine.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in electronics typically applies to roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical discipline. Hardware engineers, semiconductor process engineers, RF engineers, PCB design engineers, embedded systems engineers, and VLSI design engineers commonly qualify. Roles where any general degree suffices, regardless of field, are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B1 approval.
How do I find electronics H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for this search. You can filter by visa type, including H-1B1, by industry, and by state to surface electronics roles in California where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings that rarely specify visa type upfront. Migrate Mate aggregates sponsoring employers so Chilean and Singaporean nationals can focus applications on realistic opportunities.
Are there any California-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in electronics?
California's high concentration of electronics employers means more sponsorship opportunities overall, but it also means more competition for those roles. California employers in electronics are generally familiar with the H-1B1 category, particularly larger firms in the Bay Area and San Diego with established immigration programs. One practical note: consular processing for the H-1B1 is handled in your home country, so California-based roles still require an interview abroad before you can begin work.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 electronics jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
