Company Description
It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.
We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.
The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.
If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.

Which medical devices companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in California?
Several large medical devices employers in California have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, including Abbott, Edwards Lifesciences, Intuitive Surgical, Medtronic, Stryker, and Becton Dickinson. Sponsorship practices vary by role, hiring cycle, and internal HR policy. Reviewing a company's OFLC labor condition application filings is one way to verify whether a specific employer has previously sponsored H-1B1 holders.
Which cities in California have the most medical devices H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area (including San Jose and Santa Clara) are California's two densest hubs for medical devices employment. San Diego hosts a particularly active cluster of device and diagnostics companies in the Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley corridors. The Greater Los Angeles area also has a growing devices sector, particularly in Irvine and the broader Orange County region.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Roles that typically meet the specialty occupation standard for H-1B1 sponsorship include hardware and software engineers working on device platforms, regulatory affairs specialists, quality systems engineers, clinical applications engineers, and biomedical or materials scientists. The position must require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical or scientific field. General management or sales roles without a degree requirement tied to a specific discipline are less likely to qualify.
How do I find medical devices H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters medical devices H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in California, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. Because H-1B1 sponsorship is relatively uncommon compared to standard H-1B, finding employers already familiar with the visa category is particularly valuable. Migrate Mate surfaces those employers directly.
Are there any California-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in medical devices?
California's medical devices sector is heavily regulated at both state and federal levels, and many roles require familiarity with FDA quality system requirements, which can support the specialty occupation argument for H-1B1 eligibility. California also has strict employment and labor laws that employers must factor into their LCA filings, including prevailing wage determinations. Companies in highly regulated device segments, such as Class II and Class III implantable devices, tend to hire specialists with formal technical credentials, which aligns well with H-1B1 requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 medical devices jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
