Which fashion and apparel companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Florida?
Miami-based companies with international operations, including regional offices of global apparel brands and homegrown retailers, are among the most active CPT sponsors in Florida. Fanatics, headquartered in Jacksonville, has hired CPT students in merchandising and operations roles. Miami's concentration of Latin American fashion importers and exporters also creates CPT opportunities in buying, production coordination, and brand management for eligible F-1 students.
Which cities in Florida have the most fashion and apparel F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami is Florida's fashion hub, home to the Miami International Merchandise Mart and a dense network of apparel importers, designers, and retail brands with international ties, making it the top city for CPT roles. Orlando follows, driven by licensed and themed apparel companies connected to its entertainment industry. Tampa and Fort Lauderdale also have active wholesale and retail merchandising employers that have historically engaged CPT students.
What types of fashion and apparel roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that align directly with a student's academic program are eligible for CPT. In fashion and apparel, this commonly includes fashion design, textile development, merchandise planning, retail buying, visual merchandising, supply chain coordination, and fashion marketing. Production assistant and apparel product development roles at brands with structured internship programs are particularly common CPT placements, as they map clearly to fashion design, business, or related degree programs.
How do I find fashion and apparel F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 CPT, so you can search fashion and apparel roles in Florida without sifting through listings that do not support your status. The platform surfaces employers in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa who have sponsored CPT students in apparel-related roles. Your DSO must authorize CPT before you start, so it helps to identify employers early and confirm the role aligns with your degree program.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in fashion and apparel?
Florida's fashion industry has a strong import and export orientation, particularly in Miami, where many apparel companies operate across U.S. and Latin American markets. This means CPT roles may involve cross-border logistics, sourcing, or bilingual communication, which can be an advantage for international students. Florida has no state income tax, which affects take-home pay. Students should also confirm that part-time CPT (under 20 hours per week) does not count against the 12-month full-time CPT limit that affects OPT eligibility.
