Which legal companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Florida?
Large law firms with Florida offices, including Greenberg Traurig, Holland & Knight, Carlton Fields, and Akerman LLP, have historically brought on F-1 CPT students in paralegal, research, and compliance roles. Corporate legal departments at Florida-based companies in finance, real estate, and healthcare also work with CPT students, though sponsorship availability varies by firm size, practice area, and semester timing.
Which cities in Florida have the most legal F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads the state for legal CPT opportunities, driven by its concentration of international trade, immigration, and corporate law practices. Tampa and Orlando follow closely, with strong demand in litigation support and compliance. Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville also have active legal markets. Miami's bilingual environment particularly benefits F-1 students with Spanish proficiency, given the volume of Latin American client work at firms there.
What types of legal roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Legal roles that qualify for CPT must be directly tied to your academic program and approved by your Designated School Official. Common qualifying positions include legal research assistant, paralegal intern, compliance analyst intern, and contract review associate. Roles in immigration law, intellectual property, and corporate compliance frequently appear as CPT placements at Florida firms. The position must be integral to or required by your degree curriculum.
How do I find legal F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for F-1 CPT legal jobs in Florida, which removes the guesswork of identifying CPT-friendly employers from general job listings. Search by the Law & Legal Services category alongside the Florida and F-1 CPT filters to surface firms and legal departments that have actively indicated sponsorship. This is particularly useful for narrowing down Miami and Tampa opportunities early in your CPT authorization window.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the legal industry?
Florida's legal market has a higher-than-average concentration of international law and immigration practices, which can favor F-1 students given familiarity with cross-border legal contexts. Florida Bar rules govern who can perform legal work, so CPT students cannot practice law independently and must work under attorney supervision. Students at Florida-accredited law schools should confirm whether their J.D. program explicitly supports CPT, as not all U.S. law programs treat CPT the same way.
