Which medical devices companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Florida?
Florida-based and nationally operating medical devices companies that have historically hosted F-1 CPT students include Stryker, Medtronic, Siemens Healthineers, and Integra LifeSciences, alongside regional contract manufacturers and med-tech startups. Sponsorship availability varies by department and semester, so confirming CPT authorization with each employer's HR team before accepting an offer is important.
Which cities in Florida have the most medical devices F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami and the broader South Florida area have the highest concentration of medical devices employers in the state, driven by proximity to Latin American distribution networks and large hospital systems. Tampa and Orlando also have active medtech presences, and the Space Coast corridor around Melbourne hosts precision manufacturing and biomedical engineering roles that frequently work with F-1 CPT students.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that are directly tied to a student's degree program qualify for CPT, so the position must connect to your field of study. In medical devices, this commonly includes quality engineering, regulatory affairs, manufacturing engineering, R&D, and supply chain roles. Your Designated School Official must authorize CPT for the specific position, so the job description needs to align with your academic curriculum.
How do I find medical devices F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 CPT, and by industry. Searching Migrate Mate for medical devices roles in Florida surfaces employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving significant time compared to screening general job boards. Pairing Migrate Mate searches with outreach to your university's career center, which may have existing employer relationships in the Florida medtech sector, is a practical approach.
Are there any Florida-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in medical devices?
Florida does not impose state-level restrictions on F-1 CPT beyond federal USCIS requirements, but medical devices employers in the state often require background checks and may need to verify export control compliance before hiring international students on certain product lines. Some roles involving defense-related medical technology may require U.S. person status, which excludes F-1 visa holders, so reviewing job descriptions carefully for such restrictions before applying is important.
