Which energy companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Florida?
NextEra Energy, headquartered in Juno Beach, is among the largest energy employers in Florida with a history of sponsoring specialty occupation roles. Duke Energy Florida, based in St. Petersburg, and FPL (Florida Power and Light) also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for sponsored positions. Smaller engineering consultancies and offshore energy contractors operating along the Gulf Coast have also filed H-1B1 petitions for qualifying roles.
Which cities in Florida have the most energy H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
The Tampa Bay area and Miami-Fort Lauderdale corridor account for the largest share of sponsored energy roles in Florida, driven by major utility headquarters and offshore project management offices. Orlando has a presence in energy infrastructure and grid modernization work. The Pensacola and Panama City areas along the Gulf Coast also generate openings tied to oil, gas, and maritime energy operations.
What types of energy roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in the energy sector typically applies to roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field. Electrical engineers, power systems analysts, environmental engineers, petroleum engineers, and energy data analysts commonly meet the specialty occupation standard. Project management and grid operations roles can qualify when the position requires a degree in engineering, computer science, or a directly related technical discipline.
How do I find energy H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters job listings by visa type, including H-1B1, and by industry, so you can search directly for energy roles in Florida without sifting through listings that don't sponsor. Because H-1B1 sponsorship is limited to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, using a targeted platform like Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to general job searching.
Are there any Florida-specific or energy industry considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Florida's energy industry is undergoing significant grid investment and renewable expansion, which has increased demand for specialized engineers, but H-1B1 sponsorship still requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and demonstrate the role meets specialty occupation criteria. Florida has no state income tax, which affects overall compensation context. H-1B1 status is limited to nationals of Chile and Singapore, so eligibility must be confirmed before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 energy jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
