Which manufacturing companies in Florida sponsor H-1B1 visas?
Florida manufacturers with a history of sponsoring specialty occupation visas include Lockheed Martin and L3Harris in the aerospace and defense sector, Jabil and Benchmark Electronics in electronics manufacturing, and Medtronic and DJO Global in medical devices. Food and beverage processors operating large Florida facilities have also filed for foreign specialty workers, particularly in engineering and quality assurance roles.
Which cities in Florida have the most manufacturing H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Tampa and the surrounding Hillsborough County area host a dense concentration of electronics and defense manufacturers. Orlando has a strong aerospace and simulation manufacturing presence tied to the Space Coast corridor. Jacksonville supports industrial and logistics-adjacent manufacturing, while Miami-Dade attracts medical device and bioscience manufacturers. All four metros regularly post specialty occupation roles that align with H-1B1 eligibility criteria.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship in Florida?
Roles that typically meet the specialty occupation standard in manufacturing include process engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, industrial engineers, materials scientists, and electrical or mechanical engineers. These positions generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field directly related to the job duties. Roles where any general degree satisfies the requirement are less likely to qualify under H-1B1 criteria.
How do I find manufacturing H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers on visas like the H-1B1, and filters manufacturing roles in Florida by visa sponsorship availability. Rather than sorting through thousands of listings that don't offer sponsorship, you can browse verified H-1B1-compatible manufacturing positions across Florida's major hiring hubs, including Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville, all in one place.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for H-1B1 manufacturing sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change federal H-1B1 prevailing wage obligations. Employers must still meet Department of Labor wage requirements for the specific occupation and geographic area. Florida's manufacturing sector is heavily tied to defense contracting, and some roles at facilities with security clearance requirements may have citizenship restrictions that limit H-1B1 eligibility for certain positions.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 manufacturing jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
