Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Hawaii?
Hawaii's largest health systems, including Hawaii Pacific Health, The Queen's Health Systems, and Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, have histories of hosting students in CPT-eligible roles. The University of Hawaii Health Sciences programs and Straub Medical Center also participate in structured internship and practicum arrangements. CPT authorization must come from your DSO and align with your degree program, so confirm eligibility with your school before applying.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most healthcare F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu on Oahu accounts for the overwhelming majority of healthcare CPT opportunities in Hawaii, given its concentration of major hospitals, research centers, and public health agencies. Hilo on the Big Island offers positions tied to Hilo Medical Center and University of Hawaii at Hilo health programs. Maui's healthcare sector is smaller but growing, with Maui Health System providing some student placement opportunities.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Hawaii?
Roles that directly relate to a student's degree program are eligible for CPT authorization. In Hawaii's healthcare sector, this commonly includes health informatics, clinical research coordination, public health data analysis, healthcare administration, and pre-clinical laboratory roles. Patient-facing clinical roles such as physician or nursing positions generally require licensure and are not typical CPT placements. Your DSO determines whether a specific role qualifies based on your program curriculum.
How do I find healthcare F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international students and visa holders, with filters for F-1 CPT eligibility, industry, and state. You can search directly for healthcare roles in Hawaii that are open to CPT candidates, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening listings manually. Beyond Migrate Mate, your university's career services office can connect you with Hawaii-based health systems that have established CPT partnership programs.
Are there any Hawaii-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in healthcare?
Hawaii's healthcare workforce environment is shaped by the state's geographic isolation and high cost of living, which creates genuine demand for qualified students in health-related internship roles. Many programs tied to the University of Hawaii system have built-in clinical and research practicum structures that are pre-approved for CPT. Students should be aware that Hawaii's relatively small employer pool means earlier outreach to potential host organizations is important, as placement capacity at individual sites can be limited.
