Which medical devices companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts-based medical devices employers with a history of H-1B1 filings include Boston Scientific, Hologic, Insulet, Integra LifeSciences, and Lantheus. Multinational firms with Massachusetts operations, such as Stryker and Medtronic, have also filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles in the state. Sponsorship activity is concentrated in engineering, software, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance functions.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most medical devices H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
The greatest concentration of medical devices H-1B1 roles in Massachusetts is found in the Greater Boston area, including Cambridge, Marlborough, and Natick along the Route 128 technology corridor. Tewksbury and Danvers also host significant device manufacturing and R&D operations. These clusters reflect decades of life sciences investment and proximity to research hospitals such as Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify are those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical or scientific field. In medical devices, this commonly includes biomedical engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, software engineers developing embedded systems or device software, and quality engineers with knowledge of FDA and ISO 13485 standards. Generalist or administrative roles with no defined degree requirement are less likely to qualify.
How do I find medical devices H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles in the United States. You can filter directly by visa type (H-1B1), industry (medical devices), and state (Massachusetts) to see employers actively posting roles with sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to reviewing unfiltered job postings and helps you focus on companies that have already indicated sponsorship intent.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in Massachusetts medical devices?
Massachusetts has no state-level visa program, so H-1B1 sponsorship follows federal USCIS rules. However, the state's strong life sciences regulatory environment means employers are generally familiar with immigration processes for technical roles. Medical devices companies in Massachusetts must still file a certified Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before sponsoring an H-1B1 worker, confirming the role meets prevailing wage requirements for the specific occupation and location.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 medical devices jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
