Which technology companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Nebraska?
Nebraska employers that have hired F-1 CPT students in technology include Hudl, Spreetail, PaymentWorks, and FNBO (First National Bank of Nebraska) in IT and software roles. University of Nebraska affiliated research units and state government agencies also offer CPT-eligible positions. Sponsorship availability varies by company and semester, so confirming CPT eligibility directly with the employer's HR team before applying is advisable.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the majority of technology CPT opportunities in Nebraska, driven by its concentration of financial services, logistics technology, and software companies. Lincoln is the second-largest market, largely supported by University of Nebraska-Lincoln's research and startup ecosystem. Smaller tech activity exists in Kearney and Grand Island, but students seeking the widest range of CPT-eligible roles should focus their search on Omaha and Lincoln.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Nebraska?
Roles that are directly tied to a student's field of study qualify for CPT authorization. In Nebraska's technology sector, that commonly includes software engineering, data analysis, cybersecurity, IT support, systems administration, and database management positions. Agtech and fintech internships at Nebraska-based firms also qualify when the work aligns with a student's enrolled program. Your Designated School Official (DSO) must authorize CPT before you begin work.
How do I find technology F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international students and visa holders, making it straightforward to filter for F-1 CPT technology roles in Nebraska without sifting through postings that don't offer sponsorship. Beyond Migrate Mate, your university's career center and DSO office often maintain employer lists with CPT hiring history in Nebraska's tech sector, which can help you identify companies already familiar with the authorization process.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in technology?
Nebraska does not have a state-level income tax exemption specific to F-1 students, so CPT earnings are subject to Nebraska state income tax in addition to federal obligations. Technology internships tied to the University of Nebraska system may have on-campus or affiliated employer pathways that simplify the CPT authorization process. Because Nebraska's tech sector skews toward fintech and agtech, students in computer science, information systems, or agricultural technology programs tend to find the strongest alignment with available CPT roles.
