Position Summary
Responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for equipment and the related areas of the plant for Concrete Industries. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assists in implementation of a preventative maintenance program to anticipate and check, lube and record all structural, rebar and batch plant equipment. Performs scheduled maintenance on all equipment safely. Completes maintenance and repair logs.

Performs basic repair, service and related work on mechanical, plumbing, electrical and production equipment.
-
Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the concrete plant. Assure OSHA standards are met.

Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and adjustments of selected equipment and fixtures, as well as, operational testing and verification to specific standards. Equipment includes cranes, and batch plant and hollowcore. Duties may vary from changing light bulbs to rebuilding gear boxes.

Assists machine operators in breakdowns and help in trouble shoot problems with all machines.

Performs the required LOTO procedures on any piece of equipment being worked on.
-
Performs multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to details.
-
Uses various hand tools and test equipment periodically to analyze, evaluate and correct malfunctions with various systems, devices and/or instruments; ensures small power tools are in proper working order.

Assures appropriate personnel is informed of potential problems, status and timeline of projects, assures work is completed timely and safely, and supports other departments according to needs as directed by appropriate personnel.

Reports to maintenance leadership of spare parts and supplies needed for maintaining the various machines.
-
Keeps a well-maintained shop.
-
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- previous plant preventative maintenance experience and experience with mig and arc welding; or
- an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid NE driver’s license and be insurable under the company insurance program.
- Must be able to pass respiratory function test for working in confined areas.
- AWS certified welder to assist with heavy and critical welding is preferred—with general knowledge of SMAW, GMAW & FEAW.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must be mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot machinery and equipment.
- Must have working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and plumbing systems, and also be able to read and understand the schematics for those systems.
- Must have welding and cutting torch skills and be able to weld (MIC and ARC) and fabricate miscellaneous parts for the plant.
- Ability to operate hand tools, as well as shear punch, saw, torch and plasma cutter.
- Must be able to read shop drawings and fabricate from blueprints.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of small diesel motors and standard motor vehicles.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
