Tips for Finding H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in Nebraska
Target Nebraska's meatpacking and food processing industry
Food processing facilities, particularly in cities like Lexington, Schuyler, and Grand Island, have a long history of seasonal H-2B hiring. These employers file petitions in volume and often recruit through established labor agencies familiar with the visa process.
Search for roles tied to Nebraska's peak seasons
H-2B visas are issued for temporary or seasonal need. In Nebraska, demand peaks in spring and summer for landscaping and construction, and in fall and winter for hospitality and food processing. Time your applications to match an employer's petition cycle.
Look beyond Omaha and Lincoln to smaller markets
Rural Nebraska cities like Norfolk, Columbus, and Kearney host manufacturing, hospitality, and landscaping employers who struggle to find local workers and regularly turn to H-2B sponsorship. Competition for roles in these markets can be lower than in major metros.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified H-2B roles in Nebraska
Migrate Mate lists jobs from employers actively sponsoring H-2B visas, so you can filter by Nebraska and find opportunities without sorting through postings that don't offer sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to general job boards.
Understand the employer's petition timeline before applying
H-2B employers must file DOL applications months before the intended start date. Ask recruiters where an employer is in that process. Applying after a petition is already filed and approved puts you in the strongest position for a fast start.
Work with labor contractors and staffing agencies that specialize in H-2B
Many Nebraska H-2B employers hire through third-party staffing agencies that manage the petition process. Identifying agencies with active DOL H-2B filings in Nebraska, visible in public OFLC disclosure data, can open doors that direct applications miss.

Which industries in Nebraska sponsor the most H-2B visas?
Meat and food processing, landscaping and groundskeeping, construction, and hospitality are the leading H-2B visa industries in Nebraska. Food processing facilities in the Platte River corridor and landscaping companies serving Omaha and Lincoln metro areas account for a significant share of filings. Amusement and recreation employers also appear regularly in OFLC disclosure data for the state.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Omaha and Lincoln generate the highest volume of H-2B job openings due to their larger employer base in landscaping, hospitality, and construction. Grand Island, Lexington, and Schuyler are notable for food processing sponsorship. Norfolk and Kearney are smaller but consistent H-2B markets, particularly for seasonal roles in manufacturing and hospitality.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Nebraska?
H-2B covers non-agricultural temporary or seasonal work. In Nebraska, qualifying roles commonly include meat processing workers, landscaping and lawn care laborers, hotel housekeeping and maintenance staff, construction laborers, and amusement park or fairground workers. These positions must be tied to a demonstrated temporary need, not a permanent ongoing staffing requirement.
How do I find H-2B jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find Nebraska employers actively sponsoring H-2B visas, with listings filtered specifically for visa sponsorship. You can also review public OFLC disclosure data on the DOL FLAG portal to identify employers who have filed H-2B labor certifications in Nebraska. Reaching out to those employers or the staffing agencies listed on their petitions is an effective strategy.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
