Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in New York?
New York's transportation sector includes employers that have hosted F-1 CPT students in past cycles, including the MTA, JetBlue Airways, XPO Logistics, and port operations firms tied to the Port of New York and New Jersey. Larger logistics and infrastructure companies tend to have established CPT hosting processes, while smaller freight brokers may handle CPT authorization on a case-by-case basis through the student's designated school official.
Which cities in New York have the most transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of transportation CPT opportunities in the state, particularly in transit operations, urban logistics, and aviation roles at JFK and LaGuardia. Buffalo has a growing freight and cross-border trucking sector given its proximity to the Canadian border. Albany hosts state transportation agency offices with periodic internship openings in planning and policy roles.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that align directly with a student's degree program are required for CPT authorization. In transportation, this commonly includes supply chain analyst internships, transportation planning assistant roles, logistics operations positions, and civil or industrial engineering co-ops. Port operations, aviation operations, and urban mobility research roles at agencies or consulting firms also frequently qualify, provided the student's DSO confirms the position is integral to their curriculum.
How do I find transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students seeking CPT-eligible roles and filters jobs by visa type and location, making it easier to identify New York transportation employers already open to F-1 CPT candidates. Searching for transportation and logistics roles in New York on Migrate Mate surfaces positions from companies with documented sponsorship history, saving time compared to manually screening general job postings for CPT eligibility.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the transportation industry?
New York's transportation industry is heavily regulated at the state and city level, so some roles, particularly those involving MTA or NYCDOT projects, may require background checks or security clearances that can affect CPT eligibility timelines. Students should confirm with their DSO that the position start date aligns with their authorized CPT period, as New York transit and logistics internships often follow academic-calendar hiring cycles tied to spring or fall semesters.
