Which electronics companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in New York?
IBM has historically been among the most active H-1B1 sponsors in New York, with significant operations in Armonk and Poughkeepsie. Other employers with electronics-related sponsorship activity in the state include Broadcom, L3Harris Technologies, and ON Semiconductor. Sponsorship patterns vary by role and hiring cycle, so it's worth researching individual employer LCA filings through the Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure data.
Which cities in New York have the most electronics H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Manhattan and Brooklyn, concentrates the highest volume of electronics and hardware roles tied to consumer technology and fintech hardware. Long Island is notable for defense electronics, with companies like L3Harris maintaining facilities there. The Hudson Valley and Capital Region host semiconductor and advanced manufacturing operations, including IBM's Poughkeepsie campus. Each cluster attracts different types of electronics specializations.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Roles that consistently meet the specialty occupation standard for H-1B1 include hardware engineer, semiconductor design engineer, RF engineer, embedded systems engineer, PCB design engineer, and electrical engineer positions requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field. The key requirement is that the specific role demands a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge in that technical discipline.
How do I find electronics H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for this search, letting you filter by visa type, industry, and state so you can surface electronics roles in New York where employers have a documented history of H-1B1 sponsorship. Because the H-1B1 is available only to Chilean and Singaporean nationals and is less widely understood by employers than the H-1B, filtering for confirmed sponsorship activity is particularly important when targeting electronics positions in this market.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in New York's electronics sector?
New York's electronics sector spans regulated industries including defense and telecommunications, where security clearance requirements can affect visa sponsorship eligibility regardless of H-1B1 status. Employers in New York City are also subject to local labor law requirements that intersect with federal LCA obligations. Because the H-1B1 is a lesser-known visa category, some New York employers familiar with H-1B sponsorship may need to confirm their payroll and legal infrastructure supports H-1B1 filings before extending an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 electronics jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
