Which investment management companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in New York?
Large asset managers and alternative investment firms in New York with a history of sponsoring specialty occupation visas include BlackRock, Blackstone, Apollo Global Management, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and JPMorgan Asset Management. Sponsorship patterns vary by firm and by role, and not every open position will include H-1B1 sponsorship. Reviewing individual job postings and confirming sponsorship availability with the employer directly is the most reliable approach.
Which cities in New York have the most investment management H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan, specifically Midtown and the Financial District, concentrates the vast majority of investment management H-1B1 sponsorship roles in New York State. A smaller number of positions exist in White Plains and Stamford-adjacent commuter areas, but firms sponsoring H-1B1 workers in investment management are overwhelmingly headquartered or have primary offices in New York City itself.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in investment management typically covers specialty occupation roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Common qualifying positions include portfolio analyst, quantitative researcher, risk analyst, fixed income analyst, and investment associate roles tied to finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics degrees. Generalist or administrative roles that do not require a degree in a specific field are less likely to qualify.
How do I find investment management H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters investment management jobs in New York by H-1B1 sponsorship availability, so you're not sifting through postings that don't apply to Chilean or Singaporean nationals. Migrate Mate's listings cover roles across asset management, hedge funds, and private equity firms in the New York area, making it a more targeted starting point than general job searches.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in investment management?
New York's investment management industry is heavily regulated at both the federal and state level, and many roles require FINRA licensing or SEC registration that can affect hiring timelines for sponsored workers. Some firms, particularly smaller hedge funds and boutique asset managers, may be less experienced with H-1B1 sponsorship paperwork compared to large institutions. It's worth confirming early in the process whether a firm has sponsored H-1B1 workers before and whether their legal or HR team is familiar with the category.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 investment management jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
