Overview
This role acts as a senior technical and transformation advisor to executive stakeholders, explicitly linking engineering change to business outcomes, risk posture, and cost efficiency. It supports transformation initiatives by defining clear success metrics, adoption thresholds, and exit criteria, with accountability focused on outcomes rather than activity. The role translates enterprise and technology strategy into scalable platforms, standards, and reference implementations that teams can adopt without bespoke support. It represents the engineering perspective in engagement with security, risk, and control functions—including Chief Information Security Officers (CISO), architecture, model risk, and audit—to ensure requirements are designed in rather than retrofitted. The role also ensures AI-enabled solutions meet security, safety, governance, and quality requirements across the full lifecycle, from experimentation through production and decommissioning.
What We Offer You
- A diverse and inclusive environment that embraces change, innovation, and collaboration
- A hybrid working model, allowing for in-office / work from home flexibility, generous vacation, personal and volunteer days
- Employee Resource Groups support an inclusive workplace for everyone and promote community engagement
- Competitive compensation packages including health and wellbeing benefits, retirement savings plans, parental leave, and family building benefits
- Educational resources, matching gift and volunteer programs
What You’ll Do
- Define and enforce clear guardrails for experimentation, including what can be delegated to teams versus what requires central review or approval
- Establish and maintain governance quality for AI engineering, including transparency, traceability, human-in-the-loop controls, and ongoing compliance obligations
- Lead enablement at scale through learning programs, communities of practice, and self-service tooling, while delegating delivery and operational support to dedicated teams
- Sponsor and steer vendor and ecosystem engagement, setting strategic direction while delegating evaluations, pilots, and integrations
- Build and develop senior technical leaders who can independently own platforms, enablement, and governance streams
- Regularly review adoption, usage, and impact data to rebalance investment, retire initiatives, and reinforce what is working
How You’ll Lead
- Lead enablement at scale through learning programs, communities of practice, and self-service tooling, while delegating delivery and operational support to dedicated teams
- Sponsor and steer vendor and ecosystem engagement, setting strategic direction while delegating evaluations, pilots, and integrations
- Build and develop senior technical leaders who can independently own platforms, enablement, and governance streams
Skills You’ll Need
- Deep hands-on engineering background with the ability to assess technical quality, architectural tradeoffs, and delivery risk without micromanaging teams
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale engineering or AI transformations, including moving from experimentation to enterprise default
- Proven ability to design operating models and governance that enable speed while meeting regulatory, security, and risk expectations
- Experience working effectively with CISO, risk, and control functions in regulated environments, leading from the engineering side
- Strong judgment balancing innovation, delivery, safety, security, cost, and long-term sustainability; Track record of building platforms, standards, or internal products that achieve voluntary adoption at scale
Skills That Will Help You Excel
- Ability to translate ambiguous strategy into concrete priorities, metrics, and execution plans
- Credible executive communicator, able to simplify complex technical topics and challenge constructively
- Early-adopter mindset with evidence of disciplined experimentation, learning, and course correction
- Strong interest in modern engineering and AI tools, paired with a pragmatic approach to risk, governance, and operational readiness

Which investment management companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in North Carolina?
Wells Fargo, Truist Financial, and Fidelity Investments have operations in North Carolina and appear in Department of Labor H-1B1 disclosure data. Larger asset managers and regional investment firms in Charlotte and Raleigh are the most active sponsors, as they have the legal infrastructure to support specialty occupation petitions for Chilean and Singaporean nationals.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most investment management H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte is North Carolina's primary financial center and accounts for the largest concentration of investment management H-1B1 roles, given its status as a major U.S. banking hub. Raleigh and the Research Triangle area offer additional opportunities, particularly with firms tied to the region's growing fintech and asset management presence. Durham and Chapel Hill occasionally have relevant openings through university-affiliated investment offices.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Roles that generally qualify are those requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, such as financial analyst, portfolio analyst, quantitative analyst, risk analyst, and investment research associate positions. Roles requiring degrees in finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics tend to meet the specialty occupation standard. General management or sales positions without a specific degree requirement are less likely to qualify.
How do I find investment management H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface investment management roles in North Carolina where employers have indicated H-1B1 sponsorship. Because H-1B1 is less widely understood than H-1B, using a platform that specifically tracks it saves time compared to manually screening general job postings for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in North Carolina's investment management sector?
North Carolina does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal obligations, but investment management employers in the state are subject to SEC and FINRA regulations that can affect hiring timelines. Some roles require FINRA licensing exams after hire, which employers factor into onboarding. Charlotte-based firms with large compliance teams tend to have more established H-1B1 sponsorship processes than smaller regional advisors.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 investment management jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
