Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania's largest health systems are among the most active sponsors of specialty occupation visas. UPMC, Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, Geisinger, and Temple Health have histories of sponsoring international professionals in qualifying clinical, research, and technical roles. Academic medical centers affiliated with institutions like the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University also sponsor H-1B1 holders, particularly in research-intensive and subspecialty positions.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most healthcare H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh account for the overwhelming majority of healthcare H-1B1 positions in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia's concentration of academic medical centers, research hospitals, and specialty practices makes it the state's primary hiring hub. Pittsburgh's medical corridor, anchored by UPMC and Carnegie Mellon-affiliated research programs, is the second-largest market. Hershey, home to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, also supports a smaller but active sponsorship presence.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
H-1B1 sponsorship in Pennsylvania's healthcare sector typically covers roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field as a minimum entry requirement. Physicians, clinical researchers, biostatisticians, health informatics specialists, physical therapists, pharmacists, and medical scientists commonly qualify. Roles where any general degree satisfies the requirement, such as broad administrative or support positions, generally do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B1 approval.
How do I find healthcare H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface visa-sponsored healthcare roles in Pennsylvania for H-1B1 eligible candidates from Chile and Singapore. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to see active listings from employers with sponsorship histories. Because H-1B1 sponsorship requires a confirmed employer willing to file the petition, focusing on established health systems and academic medical centers in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh gives you the strongest starting point.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in healthcare?
Pennsylvania's healthcare employers must comply with state licensing requirements before a sponsored employee can practice clinically, which means credential verification and license applications often need to run in parallel with the H-1B1 petition process. Internationally trained physicians, for example, must hold an active Pennsylvania medical license regardless of federal visa approval. Research and non-clinical roles face fewer state-level barriers, making them a more straightforward path for H-1B1 candidates early in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 healthcare jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
