Which technology companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania technology employers with documented H-1B1 and related specialty occupation sponsorship histories include Comcast, SAP America, Vanguard, Unisys, and defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. Philadelphia-area consulting firms and Pittsburgh-based AI and software companies also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as H-1B1 petitioners. Sponsorship practices vary by company and role, so confirming with each employer directly is necessary.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most technology H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh account for the majority of technology H-1B1 sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia's concentration of financial services technology, healthcare IT, and enterprise software firms drives significant demand for specialty occupation workers. Pittsburgh's strength in artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous systems research, supported by Carnegie Mellon University and associated spinouts, makes it a secondary but fast-growing hub for H-1B1 eligible technology roles.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in Pennsylvania's technology sector most commonly covers software engineering, data science, systems architecture, cybersecurity analysis, cloud infrastructure, and machine learning roles where a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field is a standard requirement. Roles in financial technology, health informatics, and defense software development also regularly appear in H-1B1 filings. Positions where any general degree is acceptable regardless of field are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find technology H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, including H-1B1, by industry, and by state to surface Pennsylvania technology roles where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. Because H-1B1 is a less commonly understood visa category than H-1B, using a platform like Migrate Mate that separates visa types saves significant time compared to sifting through general job listings where sponsorship details are often unclear or missing.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in technology?
Pennsylvania's technology hiring is concentrated in two distinct metro areas with different employer profiles, which affects sponsorship patterns. Philadelphia employers skew toward large enterprises and regulated industries like finance and healthcare, where formal immigration programs are more established. Pittsburgh employers include more early-stage and research-adjacent companies where H-1B1 sponsorship may be less routine. Pennsylvania has no state-level work authorization process; all H-1B1 petitions are filed federally through USCIS.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 technology jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
