Which retail companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Tennessee?
Tennessee is home to several major retail and retail-adjacent employers with a history of sponsoring specialty occupation visas. Dollar General, headquartered in Goodlettsville, and AutoZone, based in Memphis, both maintain corporate functions in merchandising, data analytics, and supply chain that have supported H-1B1 filings. Larger national retailers with Tennessee distribution or corporate offices also sponsor when the role meets the specialty occupation standard.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most retail H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Nashville and Memphis concentrate the largest share of retail H-1B1 opportunities in Tennessee, driven by corporate headquarters, regional offices, and major distribution infrastructure. Knoxville and Chattanooga have smaller but active retail employment bases. Nashville in particular has seen significant growth in retail technology and e-commerce operations roles, which are more likely to meet the specialty occupation requirement central to H-1B1 eligibility.
What types of retail roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in retail is reserved for specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. Roles that most commonly qualify include merchandise planning analysts, retail data scientists, supply chain engineers, e-commerce product managers, and financial analysts within retail operations. General store management, sales associate, and buyer roles without a specific degree requirement rarely meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I find retail H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, including H-1B1, by industry, and by state to surface Tennessee retail roles from employers with active sponsorship histories. Because H-1B1 is available only to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, filtering precisely by visa type on Migrate Mate ensures you're only seeing roles where your specific eligibility applies, saving significant time compared to general job searching.
Are there any Tennessee-specific or retail-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change the federal H-1B1 prevailing wage requirements employers must meet. Retail employers in Tennessee must still file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor certifying the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. Retail distribution and logistics roles in Tennessee are growing, but sponsorship decisions remain employer-specific and role-specific.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 retail jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
