Which media and entertainment companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Texas?
Texas-based media and entertainment employers that have historically offered CPT-eligible internships include iHeartMedia (headquartered in San Antonio), NBCUniversal affiliate stations in Dallas and Houston, Warner Music Nashville's Texas operations, and production companies tied to Austin Film Commission projects. Local broadcast groups, advertising agencies, and digital content studios at universities with CPT programs are also common CPT sponsors in the state.
Which cities in Texas have the most media and entertainment F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads for broadcast, advertising, and corporate media roles, with a dense cluster of TV stations, film studios, and production houses. Austin is the strongest market for music, gaming-adjacent entertainment, and digital content creation. Houston carries significant live events, film production, and Spanish-language media hiring. San Antonio hosts iHeartMedia's national headquarters and a growing number of audio and digital media teams.
What types of media and entertainment roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that align with a student's declared major and degree requirements are eligible for CPT authorization. In media and entertainment, this commonly includes video production coordination, digital content strategy, broadcast journalism assistance, music business administration, UX writing for entertainment platforms, post-production support, and marketing for entertainment brands. The position must be directly tied to a student's course of study, and approval comes from the student's Designated School Official, not the employer.
How do I find media & entertainment F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate's job board is filtered specifically for F-1 CPT sponsorship and lets you search by industry and state, so you can browse media and entertainment roles posted by Texas employers who are open to CPT students. This saves time compared to manually screening postings. You can filter directly for Texas-based roles in media and entertainment and review which companies have current CPT-eligible openings before reaching out or applying.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Texas media and entertainment?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects take-home pay for CPT interns, though federal tax obligations still apply for F-1 students. The Texas film incentive program attracts production work to the state, which can increase short-term CPT-eligible positions on shoots and in post-production. Students should confirm with their DSO that their internship offer letter includes the employer's details and work start and end dates, as Texas employers vary in familiarity with CPT documentation requirements.
