Which accounting companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Texas?
The largest sponsors of H-1B1 accounting roles in Texas tend to be Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) with offices in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, along with large corporations headquartered in Texas such as ExxonMobil, American Airlines, and AT&T that maintain substantial internal accounting and finance teams. Regional public accounting firms and financial services companies also file H-1B1 petitions, though less frequently than the largest employers.
Which cities in Texas have the most accounting H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas for accounting H-1B1 sponsorship, concentrating a high number of corporate headquarters and major accounting firm offices in one metro. Houston follows closely, particularly in energy-sector accounting roles tied to oil, gas, and petrochemical companies. Austin is growing quickly as technology companies expand their finance and accounting functions there. San Antonio has a smaller but active market, especially in financial services and government contracting.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Roles that routinely qualify include financial accountant, tax accountant, audit associate, senior auditor, forensic accountant, and management accountant. To qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship, a position must meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a directly related field as a minimum entry requirement. General bookkeeping or clerical accounting roles typically do not meet this threshold.
How do I find accounting H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B1), industry (accounting and auditing), and state (Texas) to see live job listings from employers who sponsor. Because H-1B1 is only available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, Migrate Mate's filters help you quickly identify which Texas employers are actively filing for this visa category rather than reviewing general job postings that may not support H-1B1.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B1 accounting sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects how compensation is structured and compared to prevailing wage requirements the employer must meet under the Labor Condition Application. Texas also has a large concentration of energy-sector employers in Houston who regularly sponsor international accounting professionals with specialized experience in oil and gas financial reporting. CPA licensure in Texas is administered by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, and H-1B1 holders should confirm their credential recognition pathway if CPA licensure is a career goal.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 accounting jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
