Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Texas?
Large integrated health systems are the most consistent H-1B1 sponsors in Texas. Houston Methodist, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Baylor Scott & White Health, Texas Children's Hospital, and HCA Healthcare's Texas facilities have established international hiring infrastructure and experience filing H-1B1 petitions. Academic medical centers affiliated with UT Health, Texas A&M, and Baylor College of Medicine also sponsor international clinicians for specialty and research roles.
Which cities in Texas have the most healthcare H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Houston concentrates the highest volume of healthcare H-1B1 opportunities, driven by the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world. Dallas and Fort Worth follow, anchored by UT Southwestern and large HCA and Tenet Health facilities. Austin's fast-growing healthcare sector and San Antonio's military-affiliated medical institutions, including University Health and CHRISTUS Health, also generate meaningful sponsorship activity.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in Texas healthcare is concentrated in specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Physicians, surgeons, clinical pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical scientists, and healthcare data analysts are common qualifying titles. General nursing roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard under H-1B1 requirements, though advanced practice registered nurses in specialized clinical settings may qualify.
How do I find healthcare H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters healthcare roles by visa type, including H-1B1, and by state. Searching Texas healthcare jobs on Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with documented sponsorship activity, which saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship later. Filtering by specialty or city helps narrow results to the markets and roles most relevant to your background.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B1 healthcare sponsorship in Texas?
Texas does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements, but healthcare workers must meet Texas state licensing standards regardless of visa status. The Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Pharmacy, and Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners each have their own credential evaluation and licensing processes that run parallel to the H-1B1 petition. Employers typically require proof of Texas licensure or eligibility before initiating sponsorship paperwork.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 healthcare jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
