Which technology companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Texas?
Several large technology employers in Texas have filed H-1B1 Labor Condition Applications, including Dell Technologies, Texas Instruments, AT&T, Oracle, and IBM. Austin-based companies in the semiconductor and software sectors are particularly active. Consulting firms with Texas offices, such as Infosys and Cognizant, also appear frequently in Department of Labor disclosure data for H-1B1 filings.
Which cities in Texas have the most technology H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for technology H-1B1 sponsorship, driven by its concentration of semiconductor, software, and cloud computing employers. Dallas-Fort Worth is a close second, with a strong base of enterprise technology, financial technology, and telecommunications companies. Houston has growing demand in energy technology and engineering software roles. San Antonio has a smaller but active cybersecurity and defense technology sector.
How do I find technology H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B1), industry (technology), and state (Texas) to see verified sponsorship-eligible roles from employers with a history of H-1B1 filings. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that may not sponsor the H-1B1 specifically, which is a distinct visa category from the standard H-1B.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship in Texas?
H-1B1 sponsorship in Texas technology hiring is most common in software engineering, data science, systems architecture, network engineering, and cybersecurity. These roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Roles with generalist degree requirements or where no specific technical discipline is required are less likely to qualify.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for H-1B1 sponsorship in technology?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change federal H-1B1 prevailing wage obligations. Employers must still meet Department of Labor wage requirements based on the specific occupation and metropolitan area. Austin and Dallas are in separate wage determination zones, so prevailing wages for the same software engineering title can differ meaningfully between the two cities.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 technology jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
