Which retail companies sponsor H-1B1 visas in Utah?
Large national retailers with a significant Utah presence are the most consistent H-1B1 sponsors in the retail sector. Companies like Amazon, Costco, and Walmart have operations in the Salt Lake City area and have filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles. Retail technology firms and e-commerce operations headquartered or regionally based in Utah also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as sponsors.
Which cities in Utah have the most retail H-1B1 sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and its surrounding metro areas, including Sandy, Murray, and Draper, account for the majority of retail H-1B1 positions in Utah. Provo and Ogden also have retail and e-commerce operations that occasionally sponsor specialty occupation roles. Retail employers tend to concentrate where population density and logistics infrastructure are strongest, which in Utah means the Wasatch Front corridor running from Ogden to Provo.
What types of retail roles typically qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
H-1B1 sponsorship in retail is reserved for specialty occupation positions that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Qualifying roles commonly include merchandise planning analysts, retail data scientists, e-commerce product managers, supply chain systems analysts, and IT roles supporting retail operations. General store management, sales associate, and customer service positions do not meet the specialty occupation standard and are not eligible for H-1B1 sponsorship.
How do I find retail H-1B1 sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to find retail employers in Utah that are actively sponsoring H-1B1 workers. Because H-1B1 is a Chile and Singapore national-specific visa with a separate annual allocation from the H-1B cap, Migrate Mate helps you identify employers familiar with that distinction rather than sifting through general job postings.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B1 retail sponsorship in Utah?
Utah does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal standards, but a few practical factors are worth knowing. Utah's retail sector skews toward large-format stores and distribution operations rather than luxury or boutique retail, which affects the types of specialty roles available. The state's relatively low unemployment rate means qualified candidates can find responsive employers, though sponsorship decisions remain entirely at the employer's discretion and are not guaranteed.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 retail jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
