Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Washington?
Washington-based employers known to work with F-1 CPT students in transportation include Amazon Logistics, BNSF Railway, Alaska Airlines, and major third-party logistics firms operating out of the Puget Sound region. Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma have also engaged interns in operations and supply chain roles. CPT eligibility depends on your university program and the role meeting curricular requirements, not employer size alone.
Which cities in Washington have the most transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Tacoma account for the majority of transportation F-1 CPT opportunities in Washington. Seattle draws logistics technology, airline operations, and e-commerce fulfillment roles, while Tacoma's proximity to one of the busiest container ports on the West Coast creates demand for supply chain and port logistics interns. Bellevue and Redmond also have openings tied to tech-driven transportation and fleet management companies.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that are commonly approved for CPT in Washington's transportation sector include supply chain analyst internships, logistics operations positions, transportation planning roles, and fleet coordination functions. Engineering internships with aviation or rail companies also qualify when tied to a relevant degree program. The role must directly relate to your field of study and be part of your academic curriculum, as determined by your Designated School Official.
How do I find transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate lists transportation jobs in Washington that are open to F-1 CPT students, letting you filter specifically by visa type and industry so you're not sifting through roles that require different work authorization. Washington's transportation sector is active year-round, with logistics and supply chain internships spiking in spring and summer. Searching early and filtering by the Seattle and Tacoma metro areas on Migrate Mate gives you the most relevant results.
Are there any Washington-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in transportation?
Washington's status as a major Pacific Rim trade gateway means transportation internships often involve cross-border logistics and international freight operations, which can strengthen your academic and practical experience case for CPT approval. Washington does not impose state-level restrictions on CPT work authorization beyond federal rules. However, roles involving security-sensitive port or aviation infrastructure may require background checks that could affect hiring timelines, so confirm requirements directly with the employer before accepting an offer.
