Which construction companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin-based firms with a track record of hiring international students for CPT include Mortenson Construction, Miron Construction, J.H. Findorff & Son, and the Boldt Company. These firms work regularly with universities like UW-Madison and Milwaukee School of Engineering to place students in project engineering, field operations, and estimating roles. CPT eligibility depends on your DSO authorization and the role qualifying as integral to your program of study.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most construction F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee leads in volume, driven by ongoing commercial and infrastructure development along the lakefront and downtown corridors. Madison follows closely, supported by state government construction projects and a large university presence that actively connects employers with F-1 students. Green Bay and Waukesha also have active construction markets, particularly in industrial and commercial building. Most CPT placements are concentrated in these four metro areas.
How do I find construction F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international students seeking CPT-eligible roles and lets you filter by visa type, state, and industry, making it straightforward to browse verified construction opportunities in Wisconsin. Beyond the platform, connect directly with your university's career center, as many Wisconsin engineering and construction management programs maintain employer relationships with local firms. Confirming CPT eligibility with your DSO before applying is essential.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that align directly with a student's field of study are most likely to qualify. For construction management or civil engineering students, that includes project engineer intern, estimating analyst, field engineer, and scheduling coordinator positions. Roles in sustainability planning or BIM coordination increasingly appear in Wisconsin firms as well. The critical requirement is that the position must be an integral or required part of your academic program, as determined by your DSO.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the construction industry?
Wisconsin's construction season peaks between April and October due to winter weather, so most CPT placements align with summer and fall semesters. Students should plan applications two to three months ahead of their intended start date to allow time for DSO authorization and employer onboarding. Wisconsin does not impose additional state-level licensing requirements for student interns in construction, but some roles involving project oversight may require supervision by a licensed professional engineer.
