JOB SUMMARY
Operates heavy equipment to move, load, and transport materials such as aggregates, soil, or other bulk products in support of manufacturing or construction operations. Ensures safe and efficient equipment use while maintaining worksite productivity and compliance with safety standards.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
- Conduct equipment pre-shift inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and promptly report hazards or equipment concerns.
- Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and other mobile equipment used in completion of construction projects and/or in support of production operations.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance including greasing, checking/adding fluids, visually inspecting components, and cleaning equipment.
- Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized worksite.
- Assist with manual labor tasks such as cleanup, material handling, and jobsite organization.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean driving history required.
SKILLS
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment; front end loader experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of proper and safe heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Effective communication skills and professional conduct.
- Ability to work under deadlines and solve problems efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines.
- Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects.
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
- Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Frequent exposure to loud noise levels.
- Frequently exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
