Job Roles at AbbVie
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in AbbVie H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target AbbVie's core research and development functions
AbbVie's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in scientific and technical roles, including clinical pharmacology, bioinformatics, and regulatory science. Focusing your applications on these functions gives you the strongest chance of landing a sponsored position.
Understand that H-1B sponsorship starts with the offer
AbbVie initiates H-1B petitions after extending a job offer, not before. Clarify sponsorship intent early in the interview process, ideally before the final round, so there are no surprises when the offer arrives.
Look for roles that align with your degree field
H-1B approval at AbbVie depends on demonstrating your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Roles in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, and biostatistics have clear degree requirements, making them stronger candidates for petition approval.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified AbbVie sponsorship roles
Not every AbbVie job listing will mention visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify open roles at AbbVie that are genuinely available to H-1B candidates.
Factor in H-1B cap timing when planning your search
If you're not already in H-1B status, AbbVie will need to enter you in the annual lottery. Registration opens in March for an October 1 start date, so aligning your job search timeline with the cap cycle matters considerably.
Highlight specialized expertise that is hard to source domestically
AbbVie operates in a highly specialized industry. Candidates with niche expertise in areas like immunology research, oncology drug development, or advanced biostatistics make a stronger case for sponsorship because domestic talent supply in those areas is limited.

Does AbbVie sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, AbbVie sponsors H-1B visas for qualified candidates in scientific, technical, and specialized business roles. The company operates across drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercial functions, and has a track record of filing H-1B petitions in these areas. Sponsorship is tied to a confirmed job offer and role eligibility.
Which roles and departments at AbbVie are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at AbbVie is most common in roles that require a specific degree in a scientific or technical field. Clinical research, pharmaceutical sciences, bioinformatics, biostatistics, regulatory affairs, and data science positions are among those most frequently sponsored. Corporate functions like finance and legal may also qualify depending on the role's specialization requirements.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at AbbVie?
Once AbbVie extends a job offer, their immigration legal team or an outside counsel firm manages the H-1B petition process on your behalf. Your responsibilities typically include providing academic credentials, employment history, and supporting documentation. The company files the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and then submits the I-129 petition to USCIS.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at AbbVie?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the timeline depends on USCIS lottery selection in March and an October 1 start date. Standard processing after selection takes several months, while premium processing can reduce the USCIS adjudication window to around 15 business days. If you already hold H-1B status with another employer, a transfer can happen more quickly outside the cap cycle.
How do I find open H-1B jobs at AbbVie as an international candidate?
Searching AbbVie's careers site directly is a starting point, but listings rarely specify visa sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate lets you search AbbVie's verified sponsorship roles specifically, filtering for positions where H-1B sponsorship has historically been offered. This saves time and helps you focus on applications where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at AbbVie?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
