About ASARCO Grupo Mexico
ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world's largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, which ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across five sites in Arizona and Texas.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Network monitoring: The Intern will be responsible for monitoring the organization's network infrastructure, identifying potential issues, and proactively addressing them to maintain optimal network performance.
- Security management: Assisting in implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the network from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities. This may involve configuring firewalls, monitoring security logs, and implementing security policies.
- Troubleshooting connectivity issues: The intern will be involved in diagnosing and resolving network connectivity problems, both wired and wireless. This includes troubleshooting issues related to routers, switches, and other network devices.
- Network documentation: Keeping accurate and up-to-date documentation of the network topology, configurations, and changes. This documentation is crucial for troubleshooting, planning future upgrades, and maintaining an organized and efficient network infrastructure.
- Network management: The intern will be involved in configuring and maintaining computer networks, ensuring connectivity, and troubleshooting network issues to ensure smooth operations.
- Server maintenance: Responsibilities may include setting up and maintaining servers, performing routine updates, monitoring server performance, and addressing any issues that may arise to ensure optimal server functionality.
- User account management: The intern will manage tasks related to user accounts, such as creating, modifying, and deleting accounts. This includes managing access permissions and ensuring security protocols are followed.
- Backup and recovery: The intern may be involved in implementing and testing backup procedures to safeguard data. In the event of data loss or system failures, they will play a key role in recovery efforts to minimize downtime.
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level.
- Must be majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Data Analytics, or related discipline.
- CompTIA (A+, Net+, Sec+, CySA+).
- Microsoft certifications (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Server Hybrid Administrator, PowerBI Data Analyst).
- Cisco (CCST, CCNA, CCNP).
All employees are subject to annual physical examinations as a condition of employment.
