WHAT YOU GET TO DO
This position is preferably based in Kennesaw, GA, but is also open to candidates located in Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and California.
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will serve as a key partner to HR Business Partners in Customer Service and Operations, providing strategic and hands-on support in all areas of human resources as relates to KNAPP’s Spanish speaking population specifically expatriates from Mexico. This role is responsible for driving HR initiatives that align with business objectives, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Assist with the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and assimilation of expatriate employees from Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners as needed.
- Act as a resource to expatriates from Spanish speaking countries in terms of assimilating into the US, including but not limited to support in receiving SSN, housing, setting up bank accounts and utilities and other services.
- Provide Human Resources support for Spanish speaking expatriate employees, including guidance on company policies, employment practices, and cultural integration.
- Assist with and support Human Resources investigations and employee relations matters involving expatriate employees from Mexico, escalating to Corporate HR or Legal as appropriate.
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and conducting investigations as needed. Escalates to Corporate HR Generalist as needed.
- Ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Work with other functions to research and resolve payroll issues, assist with benefits questions, and administer leaves of absence and worker’s compensation claims for Spanish speaking population.
- Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and feedback mechanisms aimed at Spanish speaking population.
- Travel to sites to assist onboarding new employees. Lead orientation and support other departments’ activities related to onboarding/orientation for Spanish speaking population.
- Support leaders through performance review processes, coaching, and corrective action procedures in regards Spanish speaking population.
- Help coordinate training sessions on HR policies, compliance, and leadership development for Spanish speaking population.
- Assist with employee meetings, town halls, tool talks, etc. Ensure communications from Corporate are being shared effectively with onsite employees for Spanish speaking population.
- Maintain accurate employee records, process HR transactions, and support HRIS data integrity. Assist with timecard and point system management.
- Assist leadership with onsite induction trainings. Partner with Total Rewards to support employee wellness initiatives.
- Assist Leadership and corporate HR team with offboarding procedures; including but not limited to termination conversations, exit interviews and equipment collection.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent mix of education and experience.
- 3+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of US and State employment laws and HR best practices.
- Native experience living and working in Latin America preferably Mexico.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to present to and influence leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, SAP, etc.).
- Professional HR certification preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Resident of the US for at least 3 years.
- Experience supporting hourly workforce in a 24/7 operation.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Authorization to work in the US and travel to Mexico.
- Passport holder or ability to obtain passport required.
- Professional office etiquette is required at all times.
- Overtime or off-shift hours may be required to support multiple shifts.
- Travel required up to 50% to sites in the US and Mexico for recruiting, onboarding, and investigations and to corporate office for training purposes.
- Physical requirements: sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
