Position Summary
The Facilities Manager maintains and oversees High Plains Community Health Center (HPCHC) buildings and equipment to ensure that all workspaces are safe, clean and functional. PRODUCTIVITY AND EXPECTATIONS:
The Facilities Manager is an essential component to the success of HPCHC. This position is expected to prioritize time and responsibilities in the following manner:
35%: Emergency Preparedness & Safety
- Prepares findings, recommendations, actions taken, and disseminates results of performance improvement (PI) activities.
- Conducts, arranges, participates in, and evaluates the effectiveness of Environmental.
- Tours to identify risk and assess conditions throughout HPCHC facilities.
- Documents situations and trends and plans for remediation of situations that present risk, including such matters as the disposal and tracking of hazardous waste.
- Reviews incident reports to ensure proper completion and prepares additional documents, as necessary, to report incidents to other administrative or regulatory agencies.
- Works to develop safety policies and procedures for review and approval by the C-suite and Quality and/or Safety Committee.
- Develops and implements continuing educational training program regarding Environment of Care (EOC) and Life Safety Code issues for all staff.
- Assists Risk Management in conducting physical surveys of facilities and compliance with insurer recommendations.
- Conducts annual risk assessments and assists other responsible managers in conducting risk assessments.
30%: Facilities/Maintenance
- Responsible for managing all maintenance staff and any contractors at the facility.
- Responsible for maintenance and floors throughout the facility.
- Acts as corporation point of contact for the Colorado Department of Labor (Public Employee Safety and Health), federal Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration, local Fire Marshall, and other governmental authorities having jurisdiction over the facility.
- Understands Electrical/Mechanical engineering and basic building principles in order to carry out a range of basic maintenance tasks.
- Assesses and diagnose faults on complex building services plant and equipment.
- Coordinates preventative maintenance (P.M.’s) within the facility.
- Assists in carrying out maintenance routines both general and planned on a wide range of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment.
- Completes log sheets, report sheets and test certificates for legislative and statutory requirements as necessary.
30%: Environmental Services
- Oversees and maintains a clean, physically safe, accessible, and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors.
- Ensures and participates in the routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
- Assists and supervises the laundry service of the organization.
- Establishes a schedule to ensure that the cleaning needs of the organization are met consistently.
- Provides training on the use of chemical and ensures appropriate use according to procedure.
- Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions, and isolation precautions.
- Utilizes provided resources effectively, such as equipment operation manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
