Align your portfolio with autonomous systems infrastructure
Waymo's DevOps hiring centers on reliability engineering, Kubernetes orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines for safety-critical software. Showcase projects where you've managed high-availability systems or supported ML model deployment pipelines, not just general cloud work.
Target roles that map to specialty occupation criteria
USCIS requires your role to demand a specific bachelor's degree field. For DevOps at Waymo, computer science, software engineering, or systems engineering align cleanly. Avoid applying to generalist IT roles where degree-field specificity is harder to establish.
Search open DevOps positions using Migrate Mate
Filter Migrate Mate's job board by Waymo and DevOps to surface active roles that have sponsorship confirmed. This cuts the research time of manually cross-referencing job boards with DOL disclosure data.
Understand Waymo's multi-visa sponsorship approach
Waymo sponsors across H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, and employment-based Green Card categories. Australian and Chilean or Singaporean nationals have cap-exempt visa options that bypass the H-1B lottery entirely, which is worth factoring into your application timing.
Request premium processing before your start date
USCIS premium processing reduces H-1B adjudication to 15 business days. For DevOps offers with firm start dates tied to product launch cycles, confirm with your Waymo recruiter early whether premium processing is part of the offer package.
Prepare your I-94 and status documentation before onboarding
Waymo uses E-Verify for employment eligibility confirmation. Have your I-94 admission record, visa stamp, and any EAD or approval notice ready before day one. Gaps or mismatches in status documentation delay onboarding for roles with immediate access requirements.

Find DevOps at Waymo JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Waymo sponsor H-1B visas for DevOps roles?
Yes, Waymo sponsors H-1B visas for DevOps positions. The company has a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for technical roles across its engineering organization. DevOps engineers whose positions qualify as specialty occupations, requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field, are eligible for sponsorship. Confirm the specific role's eligibility during the offer stage with your recruiting contact.
How do I apply for DevOps jobs at Waymo?
Applications go through Waymo's careers portal, where DevOps and site reliability engineering roles are listed under engineering or infrastructure. Tailoring your resume to reflect experience with the tooling Waymo uses, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and large-scale CI/CD systems, improves your chances of passing initial screening. You can also browse current Waymo DevOps openings with visa sponsorship confirmed through Migrate Mate.
Which visa types does Waymo commonly sponsor for DevOps engineers?
Waymo sponsors H-1B visas for most international DevOps hires. Australian nationals can pursue the E-3 visa, which is cap-exempt and available year-round. The H-1B1 is available to citizens of Chile and Singapore under similar cap-exempt terms. For longer-term pathways, Waymo also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for qualifying employees.
What qualifications does Waymo expect for DevOps roles?
Waymo's DevOps positions typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and distributed systems is expected. Given Waymo's focus on safety-critical autonomous vehicle software, experience supporting high-availability production environments or ML infrastructure is weighted heavily in evaluation.
How do I time a visa sponsorship process for a Waymo DevOps offer?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, ask whether an E-3, H-1B1, or cap-exempt H-1B applies to your situation. Premium processing is available for H-1B filings and reduces adjudication to 15 business days, which helps align approval with Waymo's onboarding timeline.
