Align your certifications to Apple's stack
Apple's DevOps roles consistently reference Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines on AWS or Apple's own infrastructure. Holding a current CKA or AWS DevOps Professional certification signals fluency with the tooling Apple actually uses in production.
Target internal platforms teams over product orgs
Apple's internal developer tools and infrastructure org hires DevOps engineers at a higher rate than product-facing teams. Filtering your search to roles under these orgs puts you in front of teams with a longer track record of sponsoring international hires.
Verify your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Apple is an E-Verify employer, which is required for STEM OPT. If you're on F-1 OPT with a STEM-qualifying degree in computer science or engineering, confirm your I-20 reflects the correct CIP code before your offer stage to avoid delays.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open DevOps roles
Apple posts DevOps openings across multiple internal teams, and they don't all surface on general job boards at the same time. Use Migrate Mate to browse and track Apple's current DevOps listings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility.
Understand the H-1B cap timing before accepting an offer
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, registration opens in March and employment can't start before October 1. Negotiate your Apple start date around this window, or ask whether a cap-exempt bridge arrangement is possible through a university or nonprofit affiliate.
Request the LCA wage level in writing during offer review
Apple files Labor Condition Applications with DOL before your H-1B petition. Your offered salary must meet the prevailing wage for the relevant SOC code in Cupertino. Ask your recruiter to confirm the wage level assigned so you can verify it against DOL's wage library before signing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for DevOps engineers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for DevOps engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap registration process and has a consistent history of filing petitions for technical roles in this function. If you're already on a valid H-1B with another employer, Apple can also file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start working once the petition is received by USCIS.
How do I apply for DevOps jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers portal at apple.com/careers. DevOps roles are listed under Software and Services or Infrastructure. Migrate Mate also aggregates Apple's open DevOps positions filtered by visa sponsorship, which can help you track new listings without manually checking multiple sources. Tailor your resume to the specific tooling and platforms mentioned in each job description before applying.
Which visa types does Apple sponsor for DevOps roles?
Apple sponsors several visa categories for DevOps engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For permanent residency, Apple has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for employees in technical roles, typically after a period of full-time employment.
What qualifications does Apple expect for DevOps engineer roles?
Apple's DevOps postings typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, along with hands-on experience with container orchestration, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD systems. Roles on Apple's internal platforms teams often expect deeper experience with large-scale distributed systems. Relevant professional certifications strengthen your application, particularly if your degree field doesn't map directly to the role.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I receive a DevOps offer from Apple?
Timeline depends on the visa category. For cap-subject H-1B roles, the process runs from March registration through an October 1 start date at the earliest. H-1B transfers for candidates already in H-1B status can move faster, often within a few weeks of USCIS receiving the petition. E-3 and TN visas generally process more quickly, with E-3 consular interviews in Australia often scheduled within a few weeks of receiving your approval documents from Apple.
