Frame Your Credentials Around Export Controls
Apple's Compliance team handles complex export control and trade compliance obligations tied to hardware and software products. Certifications like CUSECO or EAR experience signal direct relevance and make your profile easier to justify in an H-1B specialty occupation determination.
Target Roles That Align With Apple's Regulated Products
Compliance openings tied to product regulatory affairs, privacy law, or trade policy move faster through Apple's internal approval process than generalist roles. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Compliance positions at Apple that match your visa type and specialization.
Distinguish Between Visa Types Apple Commonly Uses
Australian citizens applying for Compliance roles can use the E-3 instead of entering the H-1B lottery. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN. Both skip the annual cap, which can cut months off your timeline compared to waiting for H-1B selection.
Prepare a Degree-to-Role Nexus Statement Early
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Compliance role for specialty occupation approval. For Apple positions, map your legal, policy, or technical degree to specific job duties in the posting before your first interview so you're ready to explain it clearly.
Negotiate Offer Timing Around PERM Labor Certification
If Apple indicates Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, ask during the offer stage whether they initiate PERM before or after your start date. DOL processing timelines mean earlier initiation significantly affects how long you stay H-1B dependent.
Use OPT Strategically If You're on F-1 Status
Apple actively hires Compliance candidates on F-1 OPT and CPT, including STEM OPT extensions for qualifying degrees. If your program falls under a STEM-designated CIP code, a 24-month STEM OPT extension gives Apple and you time to pursue H-1B sponsorship across multiple lottery cycles.

Find Compliance at Apple JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Compliance roles?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Compliance positions. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means demonstrating that a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, such as law, international trade, or policy, is normally required for the position. Apple's legal and immigration teams handle the H-1B petition process once an offer is extended.
How do I apply for Compliance jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers site, where Compliance roles are listed under Legal or Finance depending on the team. Tailor your application to highlight regulatory domain experience relevant to hardware and software products, such as export controls, data privacy, or trade compliance. You can also browse open Compliance positions at Apple filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate.
Which visa types does Apple commonly sponsor for Compliance positions?
Apple sponsors a range of visa types for Compliance roles, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australians, TN for Canadians and Mexicans, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For longer-term sponsorship, Apple supports employment-based Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 for qualifying Compliance professionals.
What qualifications does Apple look for in Compliance candidates requiring sponsorship?
Apple typically seeks candidates with a relevant bachelor's degree or higher in law, international trade, business, or a technical discipline, paired with hands-on experience in a regulated industry. For hardware-focused roles, familiarity with export control regulations, product regulatory certification processes, or privacy compliance frameworks like GDPR or CCPA strengthens your candidacy significantly. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in compliance are common among successful applicants.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Compliance role at Apple?
For H-1B transfers or cap-exempt filings, USCIS standard processing runs several months, though premium processing can return a decision within a few business days for an additional fee. E-3 and TN visas move faster since they don't require USCIS approval before the consular interview. If Apple is filing a new H-1B subject to the annual lottery, timing depends on the April selection cycle, which means planning at least a year ahead is practical.
