Align your credentials to Apple's security stack
Apple's cybersecurity roles span platform security, threat intelligence, and hardware trust. Certifications like CISSP, OSCP, or hands-on experience with macOS and iOS security frameworks strengthen your application far more than general network security credentials.
Target roles that fit your current visa status
Apple hires across H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT pathways. If you're on OPT, apply to roles with a defined start date that lets Apple initiate STEM OPT or H-1B cap-subject petitions before your authorization window closes.
Search open cybersecurity roles using Migrate Mate
Apple posts cybersecurity openings across multiple teams and locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter Apple's active Cybersecurity Engineer listings by visa type so you're applying only to roles where your sponsorship category is confirmed.
Prepare for a multi-round technical process
Apple's cybersecurity interviews include system design, threat modeling, and hands-on coding rounds. Practicing scenarios around Apple's specific product ecosystem, like Secure Enclave or sandboxing architecture, signals genuine platform familiarity to hiring teams.
Clarify sponsorship scope before signing an offer
Ask explicitly whether Apple will sponsor both the nonimmigrant visa and a future Green Card through PERM. Some teams sponsor both; others limit support to nonimmigrant status. Getting this confirmed in writing before signing protects your long-term plan.
Understand H-1B timing if your OPT is expiring
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October, confirm whether Apple will file for a cap-gap extension under your F-1 status to bridge the gap without interrupting employment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Cybersecurity Engineers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Cybersecurity Engineer roles. Apple participates in the annual USCIS H-1B lottery each March and files cap-subject petitions for selected candidates with an October 1 start date. Roles across platform security, threat intelligence, and hardware trust have historically been included in Apple's sponsorship scope, though individual team policies can vary.
Which visa types does Apple commonly sponsor for Cybersecurity Engineers?
Apple sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), and TN visas (for Canadian and Mexican nationals) for cybersecurity roles. Apple also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students, and pursues immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 through PERM labor certification for eligible candidates pursuing a Green Card.
How do I apply for Cybersecurity Engineer jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers portal, but finding roles that match your visa type requires filtering by sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces Apple's open Cybersecurity Engineer positions organized by the visa categories Apple supports, so you can apply directly to roles where your sponsorship pathway is already confirmed rather than discovering it late in the process.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Cybersecurity Engineer roles?
Apple's cybersecurity postings consistently require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information security, or a closely related field, which also satisfies H-1B specialty occupation requirements. Hands-on experience with reverse engineering, vulnerability research, or platform hardening is weighted heavily. Familiarity with Apple's own platforms, macOS, iOS, or silicon security architecture, is a recurring differentiator in job descriptions.
How do I handle visa timing when pursuing a Cybersecurity Engineer role at Apple?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 students on OPT need to account for the H-1B registration window in March and a potential cap-gap period if OPT expires before October 1. E-3 and TN candidates can be sponsored year-round without lottery exposure. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, expect a DOL-managed process that typically starts after at least a year of employment.
