Align your background to Apple's partner ecosystem work
Apple's business development team focuses on chip suppliers, manufacturing partners, and platform integrations. Frame your credentials around hardware supply chains, licensing negotiations, or OEM relationships rather than generic sales or consulting experience.
Confirm LCA filings before accepting an offer
Before signing anything, ask Apple's recruiting team which visa category they intend to file under. The DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application before USCIS can process H-1B or E-3 petitions, so confirming this early prevents timeline surprises.
Target roles that sit within hardware product divisions
Business development openings tied to Silicon, Mac, or iPhone product lines tend to require deeper technical fluency and carry more specialized occupation weight, which strengthens a specialty occupation argument if USCIS issues a Request for Evidence.
Secure strong documentation of deal-closure authority
USCIS scrutinizes whether business development roles require a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge. Collect offer letters, title history, and project scopes that show you structured or closed complex commercial agreements, not just supported them.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Apple's open strategic roles
Business development postings at Apple span multiple divisions and disappear quickly. Use Migrate Mate to browse current Strategic Business Development openings at Apple filtered by visa sponsorship type so you apply to live roles before headcount closes.
Plan around H-1B cap timing if you are on OPT
If you are on F-1 OPT, Apple can file your H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start. STEM OPT gives you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which covers multiple lottery cycles if you are not selected in the first round.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Strategic Business Developments?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Strategic Business Development roles. These positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or economics. Apple handles the petition process internally through its immigration team, and candidates are generally guided through each stage after an offer is extended.
How do I apply for Strategic Business Development jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers portal. Most Strategic Business Development roles require you to pass an initial recruiter screen, a business case or strategy exercise, and multiple rounds of cross-functional interviews. Visa sponsorship intent is typically confirmed during the offer stage, so it's worth raising your sponsorship needs early in the recruiter conversation to avoid late-stage complications. You can also browse current openings on Migrate Mate, which filters Apple's roles by visa sponsorship type.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for Strategic Business Development roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for most international hires in this function. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and a shorter processing timeline. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. For longer-term immigration, Apple supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Strategic Business Development roles?
Apple typically looks for candidates with a degree in business, engineering, economics, or a related technical field, combined with experience in hardware ecosystems, platform partnerships, or supply chain commercialization. Roles closer to product divisions like Silicon or iPhone often require deeper technical fluency. An MBA is common among senior candidates, but demonstrated deal experience and cross-functional leadership carry significant weight in the interview process.
How do I estimate the visa processing timeline after Apple extends an offer?
Timeline depends on the visa category. For H-1B cap-subject cases, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date, so offers made outside that window may involve a gap period. E-3 visa consular processing in Australia typically runs two to four weeks. Premium processing for H-1B petitions guarantees a USCIS decision within 15 business days. Factor in DOL LCA certification, which usually takes seven to ten business days before the petition can be filed.
