This role is a hybrid / in-office role, with approximately three days per week in our New York City Office.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and propose pricing and packaging for new product launches and for adjustments to existing offerings, including analyzing historical customer data, building business cases, and evaluating trade-offs
- Build financial and operational models (e.g. revenue, margin, customer cohorting, usage models) to quantify the impact of pricing and monetization decisions and support key product decisions
- Partner with Finance, Engineer, Product Management, and GTM to develop and execute cohesive strategies that align with customer needs, product roadmap, and financial objectives
- Communicate strategic insights and recommendations to leadership
- Conduct competitive benchmarking to understand market dynamics and R&D investment opportunities
- Drive cross-functional execution to operationalize decisions around SKUs, billing, selling, tooling, and performance of product changes
- Collaborate with Engineering to understand infrastructure costs, technical dependencies, and architecture decisions, translating these inputs into unit economics and pricing models
REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS in a quantitative field
- 2-5 years of experience in strategy, business operations, or financial analysis and operations, preferably as a management consultant or at a data-driven product/technology company
- Proven track record of using data to drive business decisions including the ability to structure problems for analysis
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize strategic insights in an actionable and compelling manner
- Advanced Excel and Google Slides or PowerPoint skills
- Confidence using SQL for fetching and manipulating data; experience with a scripting language such as Python is a plus
- Ability to move quickly and iterate on analyses
- Comfort with ambiguity, solving complex problems, and working in a self-guided manner
- Interest in the intersection of product strategy, finance, and business operations
SUCCESS MEASURES
- Within 1 month, get up to speed on the analytical tools we use, the products we offer our customers, and our market and competitors
- Within 2 months, begin partnering with cross-functional teams on initiatives that support our product pricing and packaging strategies
- Within 3 months, scope and launch your first major business case, with input from your team and cross-functional stakeholders

Frame your pipeline experience in enterprise terms
MongoDB's business development roles focus on cloud and developer platform partnerships, not traditional sales cycles. Tailor your resume to show experience sourcing and closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals in a technology or SaaS context before you apply.
Research MongoDB's open roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter MongoDB's active Strategic Business Development openings by visa type. It surfaces sponsorship-confirmed postings so you're not guessing which roles are actually open to international candidates.
Address sponsorship directly in recruiter conversations
MongoDB recruiters are familiar with visa workflows, but don't assume they'll raise it first. Tell them your visa type and current status upfront so the hiring team can confirm the role is eligible before you invest time in multiple interview rounds.
Prepare your educational credentials for specialty occupation review
For H-1B petitions, USCIS scrutinizes whether a business development role qualifies as a specialty occupation. A degree in business, economics, or a technical field strengthens your case more than a general management background.
Align your start date with USCIS filing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only start on October 1. If you receive an offer outside that window, confirm with MongoDB's immigration team whether cap-exempt filing or a different visa category applies to your situation.
Strategic Business Development at MongoDB jobs are hiring across the US. Find yours.
Find Strategic Business Development at MongoDB JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MongoDB sponsor H-1B visas for Strategic Business Developments?
Yes, MongoDB sponsors H-1B visas for Strategic Business Development roles. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which typically means your position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like business, finance, or a technical discipline. MongoDB has an established immigration process and works with outside counsel to manage petitions for qualifying candidates.
How do I apply for Strategic Business Development jobs at MongoDB?
Apply directly through MongoDB's careers page or find sponsorship-confirmed openings through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type. Before applying, tailor your materials to MongoDB's cloud and developer platform context. After submitting, expect a recruiter screen followed by multiple rounds focused on pipeline strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and your ability to navigate enterprise sales cycles in a technology environment.
Which visa types does MongoDB commonly use for Strategic Business Development roles?
MongoDB sponsors H-1B and E-3 visas for most full-time Strategic Business Development hires. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career or intern-track roles. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business development classifications. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is typically offered after a period of full-time employment, initiated through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL.
What qualifications does MongoDB look for in Strategic Business Development candidates?
MongoDB looks for candidates with experience in technology or SaaS partnerships, enterprise deal structuring, and cross-functional stakeholder management. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, developer tools, or data platforms is a genuine differentiator. For visa purposes, a bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science, or a related field supports the specialty occupation requirement USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions for this function.
How do I time my job search if I need visa sponsorship before my current status expires?
If you're on F-1 OPT, start your MongoDB application process at least three to four months before your OPT end date. H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start, so an offer before late March is necessary to hit that window. E-3 petitions for Australian nationals have no cap and can be filed year-round, which gives more flexibility if MongoDB extends an offer outside the H-1B cycle.
