Who We Are
The Internal Data team powers decisions and applications across MongoDB, organized around four core business areas: CustomerGTM, Product & Technology, Finance, and EmployeeHR. We build and scale the data products MongoDB employees rely on every day, including data pipelines, datasets, dashboards, APIs, ML models, and frameworks that form the backbone of our internal data ecosystem. Our work directly enables teams to hit their KPIs, automate workflows, and build the AI and BI capabilities that drive the business forward.
We treat data as a product. That means applying the same rigor, user focus, and outcome orientation to internal data that MongoDB brings to its external platform. As the company continues to grow, the scope and stakes of that work grow with it.
This role is focused on our Finance domain, where data products support smarter planning, forecasting, spend efficiency, and financial performance analysis. If you want to build data products that matter at scale, this is the role for you.
This role can be based out of one of our NYC, Austin, Palo Alto, or San Francisco office locations or remotely in the United States.
In this role you will own Finance-focused data products end to end, partnering with cross-functional teams to help shape product strategy, set priorities, define requirements, and drive delivery.
You will build and maintain pipelines, datasets, dashboards, APIs, and frameworks that Finance teams rely on daily for planning, forecasting, and performance analysis, while also contributing to the data management tools and services that power AI and BI across the company.
A significant part of the work is understanding your stakeholders. You will spend time with Finance teams learning their workflows, translating their needs into clear requirements and user stories, and building relationships across Finance, engineering, and technical counterparts.
You will keep the voice of the user central in prioritization and discovery, help shape the roadmap for Finance-focused data products, and push for the right solutions even when the ask is not fully formed.
You will own your product backlog, break complex problems into well-scoped increments, manage dependencies across technical teams, and support agile delivery from sprint planning through release. You will make thoughtful tradeoff decisions across business impact, technical feasibility, and timelines, while balancing new feature delivery with long-term platform health.
You will define success metrics and track adoption, usability, and business value. You will also drive adoption through documentation, onboarding, rollouts, and change management.
When issues arise, you will partner with engineering and Finance teams to drive resolution and capture what can be learned for next time.
What We're Looking For
- 3 to 5 years of product management experience with a focus on data products, platforms, analytics, or internal business systems, including at least one year at a modern, high-growth company
- Direct experience partnering with Finance stakeholders on planning, forecasting, or reporting workflows
- Solid foundation in data, analytics, and technical product management, with the ability to work effectively with engineering on technical details while staying focused on user value and business outcomes
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and scalable architecture concepts such as lakehouse or medallion models
- Experience working with sensitive financial data, including SOX-related processes, with sound judgment on balancing controls with execution speed
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to give stakeholders clear visibility into product direction, progress, and risk
- Comfortable operating with guidance from senior product and data leaders while independently owning your area and driving work forward with a high degree of accountability

Frame your background around developer-facing products
MongoDB evaluates PM candidates on their ability to work with technical stakeholders and developer audiences. Highlight experience owning products with APIs, SDKs, or database integrations to signal fit before the sponsorship conversation starts.
Target roles aligned with your visa category
MongoDB sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and OPT candidates, but not every open PM role maps cleanly to each visa type. Filter by role seniority and team focus, then confirm sponsorship eligibility during your recruiter screen, not after an offer.
Search for MongoDB PM jobs through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces MongoDB Product Manager openings filtered by visa sponsorship type. Use it to browse active listings and identify which roles are open to your specific visa category before investing time in applications.
Prepare for OPT cap-gap timing early
If you're on F-1 OPT and MongoDB files your H-1B petition, cap-gap protections cover you through September 30 of the lottery year. Confirm your OPT expiration date against the H-1B registration window so there's no authorization gap at start date.
Understand how LCA prevailing wages affect your offer
MongoDB must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B or E-3 can proceed. The LCA locks in a prevailing wage for your role and location, so your offer will reflect that floor, not just internal leveling bands.
Document technical domain expertise in your portfolio
MongoDB's PM interviews emphasize product sense for data infrastructure and cloud-native environments. A portfolio showing shipped features in database, observability, or developer experience products strengthens your specialty occupation case for H-1B purposes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does MongoDB sponsor H-1B visas for Product Managers?
Yes, MongoDB sponsors H-1B visas for Product Manager roles. The process requires your employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit an H-1B petition to USCIS on your behalf. Because H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, timing your offer and registration window matters significantly for this pathway.
How do I apply for Product Manager jobs at MongoDB?
Applications go through MongoDB's careers site, where PM roles are listed by team and location. Before applying, research which product area you're targeting, such as Atlas, developer data platform, or AI products, and tailor your resume accordingly. Migrate Mate also surfaces MongoDB PM openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, making it easier to find roles relevant to your immigration situation.
Which visa types does MongoDB commonly use for Product Manager hires?
MongoDB sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. For Australian citizens, the E-3 is a strong alternative to the H-1B because it avoids the lottery entirely. TN visa applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The right visa depends on your citizenship and the specific role level.
What qualifications does MongoDB expect from Product Manager candidates?
MongoDB typically looks for PM candidates with experience in developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or data platforms. Technical depth matters, and many roles expect familiarity with APIs, databases, or distributed systems. For senior PMs, prior experience owning a product end-to-end and working directly with engineering and design teams is a consistent expectation across job postings.
How do I plan for the timeline between a MongoDB offer and my visa start date?
H-1B petitions have an October 1 start date tied to the federal fiscal year, so an offer accepted in spring could mean a five-month gap if you're changing status. E-3 and TN petitions process faster, often within a few weeks at a consulate. Clarify your intended start date with MongoDB's recruiting team early so the filing timeline is built into your offer negotiation.
