Tailor your resume to Apple's hardware lifecycle
Apple's Project Manager roles frequently sit inside NPI (New Product Introduction) and supply chain orgs. Highlight experience coordinating hardware milestones, managing cross-functional dependencies, or working with contract manufacturers to signal direct fit before your resume reaches a recruiter.
Target teams with recurring PM headcount
Apple's hardware, silicon, and services divisions post Project Manager roles continuously rather than seasonally. Filtering by department on Apple's careers portal and setting job alerts for those specific orgs gets you in front of openings before they fill through internal referrals.
Clarify visa type eligibility before your offer stage
Apple sponsors multiple visa categories for Project Managers, including H-1B, E-3, and TN. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration against Apple's typical offer-to-start timeline, which can run eight to twelve weeks, so you don't lose work authorization mid-process.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Apple's active PM openings
Apple's sponsorship-eligible Project Manager roles aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Search Migrate Mate to filter Apple's open positions by visa type and role category, so you're applying to listings where sponsorship is confirmed rather than assumed.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation early
USCIS scrutinizes Project Manager H-1B petitions closely because the title spans both degree-required and non-degree roles. Gather documentation showing your role requires a specific bachelor's degree field, such as engineering, computer science, or operations research, before your employer files Form I-129.
Understand Apple's PERM process for long-term sponsorship
If Apple initiates a Green Card through PERM labor certification with the DOL, expect a multi-year timeline that runs parallel to your nonimmigrant status. Ask your Apple immigration contact early whether EB-2 or EB-3 is the anticipated category, since priority date backlogs differ significantly by country of birth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. Because the H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, Apple's petitions for this title typically document a degree requirement in a specific field such as engineering, computer science, or supply chain management. Roles with a more generalist scope may face additional USCIS scrutiny during adjudication.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers portal at jobs.apple.com. Most Project Manager roles require you to apply directly to a posted requisition. Tailoring your application to the specific product area or team, such as hardware engineering, operations, or software, strengthens your chances. You can also browse Apple's sponsorship-eligible PM openings on Migrate Mate to focus on roles where visa support is confirmed.
Which visa types does Apple sponsor for Project Manager roles?
Apple sponsors several visa categories for Project Managers, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), and TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican professionals). F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for students in qualifying programs. For permanent residency, Apple has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa classifications for this role.
What qualifications does Apple look for in sponsored Project Managers?
Apple's Project Manager postings in hardware and operations typically require a bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, or a related technical field, plus demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional programs. PMP certification and familiarity with NPI processes or supply chain coordination are frequently listed. For H-1B purposes, the degree field must align specifically with the job duties, not just the title.
How do I plan my timeline if Apple is sponsoring my H-1B as a Project Manager?
If you're not currently in H-1B status, your petition will likely be subject to the annual cap, with USCIS accepting registrations in March for an October 1 start date. That gap between offer and start can run six months or longer. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date and whether a cap-gap extension applies. Premium processing is available through USCIS if you need a faster adjudication decision.
