Frame your credentials around HP's partner ecosystem
HP structures its business development org around channel partners, OEM relationships, and enterprise alliances. Tailor your resume and portfolio to show experience in hardware or technology distribution channels, not just general BD or sales roles.
Target roles in HP's commercial and enterprise divisions
HP's BD hiring concentrates in commercial technology and enterprise solutions segments. Search specifically within these business units, where sponsorship activity for strategic roles is more consistent than in consumer or retail-facing functions.
Confirm your E-3 eligibility before the offer stage
Australian citizens should identify E-3 eligibility early. HP sponsors E-3 visas for strategic roles, and processing moves faster than H-1B because there's no lottery. Raising this with your recruiter before the offer stage prevents delays in your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find HP BD roles that sponsor
HP posts Strategic Business Development roles across multiple job boards, but not all listings flag sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to filter HP's open positions specifically for visa-sponsoring roles and avoid applications where sponsorship isn't confirmed.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny in BD roles
USCIS sometimes challenges H-1B petitions for business development roles where the degree-to-job connection isn't explicit. Strengthen your petition by documenting how your specific degree field, such as business strategy or engineering, directly supports the technical scope of HP's BD function.

Does HP sponsor H-1B visas for Strategic Business Developments?
Yes, HP sponsors H-1B visas for Strategic Business Development roles. HP participates in the H-1B cap lottery each spring and also files cap-exempt petitions where eligible. Because H-1B selection is not guaranteed, candidates on other visa types, including E-3 or L-1, may find it faster to start employment while an H-1B petition is pending.
How do I apply for Strategic Business Development jobs at HP?
Apply directly through HP's careers portal, where Strategic Business Development roles are listed under commercial, enterprise, or partner solutions divisions. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse HP's open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which saves time screening listings that don't explicitly confirm sponsorship support.
Which visa types does HP commonly sponsor for Strategic Business Development roles?
HP sponsors H-1B and E-3 nonimmigrant visas for Strategic Business Development positions, along with EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for longer-term green card pathways. E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and bypasses the H-1B lottery, making it a faster option if you're eligible.
What qualifications does HP expect for Strategic Business Development roles?
HP typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in business, engineering, or a related technical field, combined with experience in partner management, enterprise sales, or technology alliances. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, the degree must directly relate to the role's scope, so experience in hardware or software ecosystems strengthens both your application and the visa petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining HP in a Strategic Business Development role?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 petitions for Australian citizens typically resolve within a few weeks through consular processing. H-1B sponsorship requires cap lottery selection in April, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 adds a multi-year process, so aligning your career timeline with HP early is practical.
