Target HP's core engineering and software divisions
HP's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical roles across hardware engineering, software development, and R&D. Focusing your applications on these teams gives you the strongest chance of landing a role that qualifies for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship.
Understand which visa types HP actively supports
HP sponsors H-1B, E-3, and employment-based Green Cards, including EB-2 and EB-3 pathways. If you're an Australian national, HP's E-3 history makes it worth targeting specifically, fewer candidates compete for those slots.
Position your application around specialty occupation evidence
HP's H-1B petitions require demonstrating a clear link between your degree and the role. Tailor your resume to show field-specific expertise, not just general experience. Electronics and hardware roles with clearly defined technical requirements tend to perform well in USCIS review.
Look for roles in HP's printer, PC, and enterprise product lines
HP's product divisions in personal computing, printing systems, and enterprise hardware consistently hire internationally sponsored talent. These product lines have deep technical staffing needs and a history of supporting long-term visa pathways, including permanent residence.
Ask about Green Card support early in the offer process
HP sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which signals a long-term hiring commitment. During negotiations, it's reasonable to ask about PERM timelines and whether the team has supported prior Green Card cases, HP's legal team is experienced with this process.
Use Migrate Mate to surface verified HP openings
Finding roles at active sponsors is half the battle. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you identify open HP positions where international candidates have a realistic path to visa support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does HP sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, HP sponsors H-1B visas and has done so consistently across multiple years. The company is an active sponsor in the Electronics and Hardware sector, with sponsorship concentrated in technical roles such as software engineering, hardware development, and systems architecture. HP's scale and established legal infrastructure make it a reliable employer for H-1B candidates.
What types of visas does HP sponsor?
HP sponsors H-1B visas for nonimmigrant workers, E-3 visas for Australian nationals in specialty occupations, and employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. The company's willingness to sponsor across both temporary and permanent pathways makes it a strong long-term option for international professionals seeking U.S. work authorization.
Which departments or roles at HP are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at HP is most common in engineering, software development, hardware design, R&D, and technical program management. Roles requiring specialized degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields are the strongest candidates for H-1B qualification. Business, marketing, and generalist roles are sponsored less frequently, though exceptions exist at the senior level.
How do I find visa-sponsored job openings at HP?
The most efficient approach is to filter by verified sponsorship history rather than relying on job postings that mention visa support generically. Migrate Mate surfaces employers like HP with real sponsorship track records, so you can browse open roles and apply with confidence that sponsorship is on the table. Checking HP's careers page directly for roles in engineering and hardware is also worthwhile.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by HP?
Align your application with HP's core technical divisions, where sponsorship demand and precedent are strongest. Make the specialty occupation case clear in your resume by connecting your degree field directly to the job requirements. Once you receive an offer, engage early with HP's HR and legal teams about visa timelines, particularly if you have OPT running or an upcoming cap deadline.
