Target roles in engineering and R&D
TSMC's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines like process engineering, semiconductor design, and materials science. Focusing your applications on these functions gives you the best chance of landing a role with a clear sponsorship path.
Understand TSMC's long-term sponsorship commitment
TSMC regularly supports employees through both H-1B and Green Card processes, signaling a genuine investment in retaining foreign national talent. This makes it a stronger long-term bet than employers who only sponsor short-term visa categories.
Australian citizens should ask about the E-3
TSMC has sponsored E-3 visas, which are available exclusively to Australian citizens. If you hold an Australian passport, ask your recruiter about this option early, it can move faster than the H-1B and bypasses the lottery entirely.
Apply to TSMC's U.S. expansion sites specifically
TSMC is scaling its U.S. manufacturing presence, particularly in Arizona. Roles tied to new fab construction and operations are actively hiring, and these sites are where international sponsorship needs are highest in the near term.
Align your application to TSMC's specialty occupation requirements
H-1B approval hinges on the role qualifying as a specialty occupation. For TSMC, this typically means a degree directly relevant to semiconductor engineering or a related hardware discipline, make sure your resume reflects that clearly.
Browse verified TSMC openings before applying
Confirming a company's real sponsorship history before you invest time applying matters. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship track record and find open TSMC roles in one place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does TSMC sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, TSMC sponsors H-1B visas and is one of the more active sponsors in the electronics and semiconductor industry. Sponsorship is concentrated in technical and engineering roles, particularly in process engineering, chip design, and manufacturing operations. TSMC has a strong pattern of supporting H-1B employees through the Green Card process as well, which makes it an attractive long-term employer for foreign nationals.
Which visa types does TSMC sponsor?
TSMC sponsors H-1B visas, E-3 visas for Australian citizens, and immigrant visa categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for Green Card sponsorship. The H-1B is the most common pathway. The E-3 visa is a less frequently used but viable option for Australians in qualifying roles. Green Card sponsorship indicates TSMC's willingness to invest in long-term retention of international employees.
Which departments or roles at TSMC are most likely to get visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at TSMC is heavily concentrated in engineering and technical disciplines. Process engineers, device engineers, equipment engineers, yield engineers, and roles in R&D are the most common sponsored positions. TSMC's U.S. semiconductor fabrication operations drive the majority of its sponsorship activity, so roles tied directly to fab operations and advanced manufacturing are the strongest targets for international applicants.
How do I find open sponsored positions at TSMC?
The most efficient approach is to use a platform that filters by verified sponsorship history rather than searching general job boards where sponsorship details are rarely confirmed. Migrate Mate lets you browse open roles at TSMC and other active sponsors directly, so you can focus your time on companies with a real track record of filing for the visa type you need.
How do I know if TSMC will sponsor my specific visa situation?
TSMC's sponsorship decisions depend on the role, your visa category eligibility, and the specific hiring team's needs. For H-1B, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation with a direct degree requirement. For the E-3, you must be an Australian citizen. The best approach is to raise the sponsorship question early in the recruiter conversation and confirm whether the specific role and location support your visa type before progressing through later interview rounds.
